Full Description & Details
The kids went to sleep early (I worried that they were sick because they never did that). I tried to read for a while but got too sleepy myself. Was awakened by a bright light shining in my room. I thought at first that it was daylight and the alarm had not gone off. I felt like I had had a full nights rest (rare for me at that time). I grabbed my glasses and jumped up and realized that the room was dark. I had a sensation of the light moving across my window so then I thought it was a flashlight or car on the back road behind the house. looked out the window and saw nothing. The dog was asleep so it was not someone with a flashlight. No cars on the road. I started to go back to sleep when I noticed a light zip across the sky. Then it was joined by others, always multiples of 3. I had seen this kind of thing before with friends. I decided to watch for a while. They did geometric formations, shooting lightning like bolts at each other (it looked like beams of light but I got that it was more like lighting). Then all but one zipped off and the one came close to the back of my house and hovered. It was over the edge of a field at the end of a dirt road. It seemed spherical with lights stobing around the middle, different colors, just 3, I think blue, yellow and red (long time ago, can't remember for sure). Then all the lights went out for a split second and it suddenly lit up with a beam of white light going down, inside a brighter light spinning (like a double helix maybe). eventually it zipped off and was joined by 2 more and they zipped off together. When it was over it was only 9:00 PM so it could not have been more than 30 minutes, maybe only 15.
From that time on for a few years I would wake up thinking someone was in the house. I would check all the doors, windows, closets, toy box, under all the beds, make sure the kids were ok before I could go to sleep. It felt like someone might be hiding in the house, but the places I looked were too small for grown humans to hide in. Very weird. My youngest daughter from then on needed a night light to sleep. (still does at the age of 21). In about 1990 or 1991 I quit having these episodes and I only had nightmares occassionally (which I had suffered from since childhood).
Some strange things that might be connected: In 1988 I took the kids to a bookstore and saw Communion by Whitley Strieber on the front table (it was new). I recognized the being on the front, but not rationally. I picked up the book and became intensly fearful so I put it back. Later, when it came out in paperback I was in the checkout line at Walmart and a book 'jumped' into my cart (I did not bump the rack, I was still) It was Communion. I did not buy it then either. Next, a few months later, I was at the library and a book fell at my feet from the top shelf. It was Communion, so I checked it out, but could not read more than 1/3 or 1/2 of it. I didn't sleep for a week after I tried to read that book. My friend helped me read the whole thing later by telling me I had a hidden fear I had to face. After reading that book, I know I was not abducted, but something did happen in Oct 1987.
Personal Background
Intelligent female with tendencies towards logical thinking; computer science degree, plus extra university classes because of varied interests; earn a living as a computer programmer; have army experience in communications; prone to unexplainable insight, knowing, empathic and sometimes telepathic abilities, more so as a child; I get along well with people and have many friends that I have known for many years.
Other Comments
What I saw was similar to a video a woman shot in Canada out her kitchen window. Also, I wondered if it might be part of President Reagan's Star Wars tests because of the location. Curious though, about the Whitley Strieber book, if it was.
