UFO Sighting Report

Date:

1977-1978 can't precisely remember now

Location:

outside Wms. Lk bc, British Columbia, Canada

Summary:

Someone was stopped with a full load to the left hand side of the road just several yards from the crusher. They were supposed to be dropping a load but he was standing on the lectrohaul deck looking up. I stopped beside him - stepped out onto my deck and also looked up. To a circular perimeter of concentric circles each light strobing one after another and then each row in opposite directions as I remember it.

Appearance / Description of Object(s)

Appeared to be 3 circles of strobing lights. they must have been on something a good size e but the silence confused the issue. The lack of clear form didn't help. The lights were bright but not so bright that my eyes were bothered looking straight at them. I think the colors were red and white. It has been a long time so I don't remember the third color was blue or green. they were not pulsing they were strobing in a circular motion one after another - say you have 10 lights 1 thru 10. the first light gives way to the 2nd and so on around and around but continuously and quickly. There were certainly more than 10 lights though. There were many lights. The middle row was blinking or strobing in the opposite direction to the outer rows. The rows seemed close together but that they were separated could be seen.

Size of Object(s)

I expect my hands would have to be far apart - no - I can't say really. It has been too long. Very hard to tell the size of it in any event. That was one of the things I was struggling with. It wasn't possible to tell how close or how far away it was. When it streaked straight up the size didn't recede. The thing seemed very close overhead but couldn't have been? The actual form was not evident. The silence confused the senses further. That large an object that close over head should have made some noise.

Description of Area / Surroundings

Gibralter Copper mine McLeese Lake, BC

Full Description & Details

Watched this hover stationary for what seemed like a long time. they appeared to be over top of the main area of the mine. Suddenly streaked straight up and stopped on a dime. Then left quickly on what appeared to be a very smooth oblong path following the horizon towards the mountains. I use the word streaked because there was nothing to compare the movement to. It wasn't a helicopter. It wasn't a plane. It was confusing to the senses. It left me with a very strange feeling because I couldn't identify it and since it was daytime and a lot of people work at the mine I never understood why there seemed only to be the 2 of us who saw this. He asked me what I was seeing. He was also confused. I think I said I am looking at some lights I don't know what they are? We just kept looking and didn't really compare notes. We couldn't have been that long because there was a man waiting in the crusher. I made the mistake of talking about it on the crew bus. I rarely did again. I spent some time searching for evidence of others having cited something - there was nothing. It made me crazy and the but of jokes for awhile until it died down. I don't expect the entire citing lasted more than 10 minutes.

I was extremely shocked that no one else saw it but maybe no one else was prepared to say they did. I didn't get over it for a long time. I still don't see reports - every now and then I check the internet. I quite working a few months before I was 25 in January. Copper was downgraded for a while during - I believe it was the summer of 78. The mine went on an 8 month lock out and I never went back. I can't remember if I saw this in 1977 or 78. It was nice out and we weren't wearing jackets. I started in the winter and worked 2 summers. I may have started in 76. I think I saw it in my 2nd year there.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

Absolutely not.

Witness Background

variety of occupations. last one was 21 years as a claims examiner.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

My views were probably the same as most people who never encountered ufo's but are also in any event exposed to the media and talk and consider that the universe is vast and largely unknown.

Other Comments

I also think it is possible that corporations &/or government departments develop special projects in silence that could explain ufo's. They don't necessarily have to be from other planets.
