UFO Sighting Report

September, 28, 2012

Longboat Key, Florida, United States

My wife and I were sitting in a reclined position on beach lounge chairs at the Four Winds Beach Resort. At about 1PM I used my binoculars to look at the Magnificent Frigate birds soaring high above the beach over the ocean. I noticed a reflection off a metallic object very high in the sky. I focused the object clearly and was shocked to see a vertically shaped oblong metallic object that had no wings that was motionless in the sky. The only motion was my difficulty holding the object in a steady framework. I looked for a heat signature from the object but there was none. The object was smooth and had a dark spot area on one side about midway up the metallic body. The object could not be spotted by the naked eye. I watched the object for several minutes. I lost sight of it and could not locate it again. I doubt it was a weather balloon as it appeared to be solid in its shape.

No. of Witnesses:

10 minutes or less

Size of Object(s)

I would estimate the size to be about as big as a bus or larger.

Distance to Object(s) & Altitude

the object was nearly directly overhead minus 15 degees from vertical and 10 to 20 thousand feet.

Description of Area / Surroundings

clear sky. The sighting was completely by accident as it was not observable by eye from the beach.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

could be man made but not a weather balloon, not a plane, not a satellite, not a blimp. It was not a natural object.

Witness Background

Ex military Air Force aircrew

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

This only makes it more difficult to believe we are alone but also our own technology may be more advanced than we the public know.
