Hello everyone. I am pretty new to this forum so I don't know everyone's personalities on here or if I am going to get put down for asking this question but here goes....
I was curious if anyone here knows what the dark hooded figures are? I have read about them when studying sleep paralysis and read all the grim reaper crap, just curious if anyone has had any paranormal experiences with these entities and if they thought they were good or bad? Are they aliens, demons, ghosts, imagination, what are they?
Sorry I can't give any more details except that they are dark hooded figures, they look like a man wearing a cape, but no color, just black all over. Like a shadow.
But seriously although this has nothing at all to do with UFO phenomena imho, I have a friend from childhood who saw a hooded figure in his living room days after his father died of a heart attack.
Granted he was very young at the time (2nd grade) but he remembers this incident well into his adulthood - and his story has been consistant ever since he told me it in 3rd grade decades ago.
I find it even more interesting because he is still a very stubborn agnostic and really doesn't believe in the paranormal save for his one personal experience.
I have always entertained the idea that it somehow was his father coming back to warn him to NOT become an athiest...
However I have never had any paranormal experiences myself although I share the Christian belief that "spirits" do exist and exert influence on Earth.

Thank you for your reply HealthySkeptic. Chick magnet, lol, that's cute;-) I was just curious because I have something similar in my house is all, didn't know who would know what it is considering it doesn't seem to look like your average ghost. I thought that's what it was, but it definitely isn't. I have heard a lot of people talk about dark hooded figures or figures with capes but I cannot seem to find any books or anything on the internet about them.
Thanks HealthySkeptic.

Sure thing - sorry I don't have more details as I did not witness it myself.
Hoever I do remember him remarking that although he was stunned and frightened stiff when he saw the figure - he actually felt it was a benevolent presence.
Maybe thats why I have always suspected it was his dad - who was a really good man I've been told.

Coincidences maybe that you mentioned this hooded figure because about three maybe four years ago when I was sleeping I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and looked up to my right and what I saw was a erm...man I guess and he looked just like the reaper but without the whole blade on a stick thing. This all happened in a few short seconds but I looked up and saw him starring down at me but without a face. Just hooded in a reaper outfit if you will. So I blinked twice and I remember that specifically. Well he was still there so I blinked a third time and had my eyes shut for about two or three seconds and then when I opened my eyes he was gone. That's it. =] Only one of my friends know about this and besides that I didn't bother to bring it up again cause I'm sure some people could conjure many explanations to justify what I had seen and I don't feel like hearing it so yep.

Hi Lisa,
Like Hobo Joe, I too have had a sleep/wake episode with a shadowy figure, but the shadow only suggested a hood, I didnt actually see one. Also, there was no paralysis at all. The best way I can explain the experience is that my mind was rebooted just like a computer! It was an amazing experience. My eyes open real wide, I immediately realize I dont know who I am or where I am. Slowly the brain recalls everything, but it takes almost a minute! No panic, no fear, just concern for this state of mind I was in. The only recollection I had was the shadowy figure next to my bed (very tall or hovering, not sure), and a feeling of association - like we had been communicating.
I was told by Kenny Kingston, "Psychic to the Stars" (remember him?), that this was my spirit guide. I kick myself for not telling him that during that time in my life, I had tried meditating and was trying to use it to help decipher some UFO related lucid dreams I've had throughout my life.

Hi all!
Interesting posts by the way!
Have any of you heard of the term "Night Hags"? This could be what you are all suffering from. Do any of you suffer from paralysis in you sleep at the same time as seeing the figures in the room. If so you might find this interesting-
the bottom part of this link is the most spine chilling!!

I appreciate all of your responses, it has helped me a lot. I will tell you my experience and it is pretty detailed and might sound like I am crazy but oh well here goes. I have heard of the sleep paralysis stuff and for some I do believe they have that disorder, but I unfortunately do not, I say unfortunately because believe me if I could explain it away as easy as that, I may not be afraid anymore. I have a lot of ghost activity in my house and have had ghosts around me since I was a teenager, it is nothing new to me. Things disappearing and ending up in strange places. Seeing things while wide awake watching television, etc. The hooded figure scares me a little. I was asleep, not sleep paralysis, lol, I woke up to find this thing hovering over my bed, my bed was shaking, felt like an earthquake, a really little one, but I live in Kansas so that wasn't it, lol, and it was touching my inner thigh. I sat up in bed and started praying The Lords Prayer because I didn't know what else to do, I then said I have to much faith for you to f with me. I laid back down and went to sleep. I thought the next day perhaps I had a bad dream and of course made up a ridiculous rational explanation for what had occurred and went on with my daily life. That was months ago, I have recently moved since then and figured whatever that thing was, if it was anything at all, surely stayed at my old place. In this new apartment I have been staying in, guests have come over and said they have been seeing strange things as well, of course I never told them about the hooded figure, I'd sound completely insane. Especially sound nuts when telling them the hooded figure was touching me in my sleep, lol. Just the other day I woke up from taking a nap and my bed was shaking again, nothing like the exorcist shake, just shaking, and I remembered when it did it last time and that was when the hooded figure was there. I came up with another ridiculous rational explanation and went on with my daily routine until my friend got scared to death in my apartment. She said she saw something, I asked her what she saw and she said she was in the bedroom and saw a dark shadow with a cape on that was about six feet tall standing in my bathroom entryway. Scared the hell out of her. I am convinced now that this thing, whatever it is, is around in my house and I am not too sure if it's not the thing that keeps knocking things over, taking things, noises, etc. Sorry if it sounds crazy but it is the truth and I am lost as to what it is or what to do. Some people are saying they feel this presence is benevolent, she said she was scared but she didn't fear it like it was bad, I am not too sure because of the touching and the praying seemed to make it go away. Well, there's some of my experiences as a ghost magnet myself. Please no rude responses for you will not be taken seriously because I know what happened and I am not stupid.

Very interesting Lisa.. these types of spirits seem to be attracted to certain aspects of a persons personality, which would explain why moving did not get rid of it and you were followed. I have had some experiences with spirits myself... Only thing i can say is to be aware and not afraid.
