What's plenty for you may not be for others. It's not what we need everyday but what we may need regardless of why we may need it. Range of the battery must be pushed to it's limits whenever the technology is available.

The average distance for commuting to work in the US is 16 miles (25Km). With a round trip of 32 miles on average, most people could ride one of these. Unless you live a great distance from everywhere, a range of 112 miles is sufficient for most people.

What I mean is that in the USA you'll be able to drive anywhere, with free charging along the way. The charging is fast enough that you will only be able to take a quick coffee and a pee while it recharges enough to reach then next free point. How could you need more range than that? (want, yes maybe but *need*, no)

Speacking of fuel economy and lack of power I got a 50cc 4 stroke scooter that takes like 1.5l/100km at 35-45km/h and 1.7l at 50-60km/h. @22k km made, spent literally nothing on parts and I paid for it 600 euro. Way to go :D

I would like to say something in favor of electric industry in general, but I better keep my mouth shot.

With 9kWh in its battery pack, nearly twice the capacity of the Toyota Prius, the 2012 Zero DS is the fastest, longest-range electric motorcycle to ever enter production. 84mph top speed, 112-mile range. Is that enough to make it practical, useful transportation? More importantly, can a bike that slow be fun to ride? For more about electric motorcycles, check out http://hellforleathermagazine.com
