Full Description & Details

Back in 1983-4 I was living with my boyfriend of several years, Andy, in a rather remote area, an old logging camp with about 8 residences, just 10 miles north west of Sooke, Vancouver Island. One mid summers night around dusk as I was out back with garden chores I could hear an almost undiscernable low hum, I could feel the sound more then hear it. I went to fetch Andy from the house to see if he could hear it, commenting on what a strange sound it was. We decided to investigate together. As we had lived there for several years we were quite familiar with the area, which was approx. 1/2 mile from the ocean, past our logging camp, that would be gated off during forest fire season, there were many connecting back roads consisting of crown lands and logging lots most of which date back forty years. Not far back in from the gate was a forty ft. sand dune with small bushes on top and just past that was an old logging landing, consisting of a large gravel area several hundred ft. wide and long. We actually approached the site through our backyard, through a trail that came upon a small gravel road that ran ajacent to the gated road. The sound increased as we traveled in the near dark, we were very quiet. As we approached the cross roads we could see lights coming from ahead where we know the flat landing site to be, we decided to head up the back of the sand dune where we could get a good view unnoticed. On tummies we crept and peered over the top. I was astounded by what I viewed., and here it is. What I saw was an enormous dark structure, almost filled up the whole site that was a few hundred ft wide, to me it looked like the size of a football stadium, it was long, thin, rounded edges, lights placed strategically along the top edge casting shallow light downward. I was shocked to see nobody around , not a soul, not a recognisable vehicle anywhere. The sound was still louder but so strange I've

never heard anything like it before or since, so low, you could feel it in the ground. I became a little scared at this point but could not peel my very wide eyes away for a second. All the time confirming to each other what we were seeing in very hushed tones. Suddenly, and my heart jumps at just recalling it, one of the lights beamed on us so quick and with blinding intensity that we both jumped back from it in startled surprise, then we ducked just as quickly and ran home the short way. If we didn't have that sand dune to hide upon that light would have blinded one real fast. The next day early we decided to check that out again, to my utter disbelief at 6am the following morning there was no sign of what we had seen. My mind was totally blown when around us was not a tire mark or footprint or any marks from the massive legs that held up this structure, and yet as we walked around we were leaving footprints. I asked the neighbors later if they heard that strange low hum, one neighbor Art Shore an old resident of the logging camp told me oh those are military operations they perform sometimes. That might have made sense if one could have seen a convoy of trucks, like I'd seen before and people on the site, but in view of it now, nothing was ever explained adequately. I never reported to anyone else. As you might have guessed it had a huge inpact on me as even after 20 years it's as fresh a memory as it was the morning following. I have had a few other strange unexplained happenings in my life before and I guess I just chalked it up to "here we go again............."

Other Comments

I could probably draw a pretty accuate drawing of it, most people would discribe it as cigar shaped. I don't know what it was but I'm not convined at all that it had anything to do with our military, I know we have nothing as advanced as what we saw, and no people on the site ......right!! I wished i could have stayed up all that night to watch the skies, but I didn't.....never saw it in flight but there's no other explaination to me as how it got there and left so quick, with ou any visible marks, other then to have flown in ??

Full Description & Details

I guess what makes this sighting so memorable is because it was on my birthday. I was eight years old and all I wanted was a telescope. My mom had given one earlier that day as a birthday present.

That night I went to my friends house who lived on a "dead end" road to test out the telescope.

I caught sight of something floating high above some telephone lines. I decided to scope it out with my cool new toy. I stuck it to my eye and saw something that, to this day, scares the life out of me. It was a spherical object floating above the power lines, high above them. It had definition and a greyish glow about it. As soon as it "caught sight" of me watching it...it pretty much dissapeared in, what seemed like, thin air.

I was so frightened that I slammed my telescope onto the ground, breaking it.

I didnt speak about this experience until about eight years later, to a friend, who is two years older than me.

We got into a discussion about "aliens" and I confessed to him that I believe I had seen a spacecraft around age eight.

He, in turn, told me that he had seen one around age 10. He saw it outside of his window and he was so afraid after the sighting that he didnt leave his home for almost two weeks.

I asked him what month he saw the thing. He told me in the summer..around August.

He described the object and it was the same thing that I saw.

I believe we saw the same thing. It still scares me to think about it.

My ex wife and me were waiting for a bus at the bus stop after watching a movie very close to downtown in Mérida, Yucatán, there were other people waiting, that corner is very close to the movie hall exit.

We were about 15 persons waiting when suddenly my ex wife and I listened like a whisper or surprise and fear, we turned to look and a midle aged woman was pointing up where there was a small building (about 4 floors) and there it was, this big space ship with the above measurements, metal like walls, rectangle windows and a green light inside.

It passed very close to the building, very slowly, so when it was no possible to keep on looking at it, I crossed the street until the paralel street and I saw it once again, then I heard my ex wife's yells and I returned to where she was.

The attached, unmodified photo, taken with a Kodak 6340 digital camera in Auto mode, was taken in Los Osos, CA today, July 28, 2004. I did not see the object in the sky when I took the photo, I was taking lots of random shots to check a possible problem with battery life in the camera. None of the other shots, taken just seconds before and after, have a similar spot. The shadows on the object seem to be correctly oriented.

Full Description & Details

I was about 14 at the time this happened. It was a cool mid-summer afternoon like we would sometimes get in NE Ohio. I was a paperboy and my helper (also 14) and I were on our way to pick up our newspapers, which were delivered by truck a few blocks from my home. As we were cutting through some backyards, I commented to my helper how neat the big, fair-weather cumulus clouds overhead looked. The clouds probably covered half of the sky. The atmosphere was very clear, so in between was bright sunshine and deep blue sky. At the moment we looked up, we were both startled to see a silver, disk-shaped object moving rapidly overhead. The apparent size and shape was about that of a nickel held at arms length. The surface appeared polished because it was very shiny in the sunlight. We saw the object disappear into the side of one cloud, emerge from it, then disappear into the next cloud. We never regained sight of it after that. Total elapsed time could not have been more than 10 seconds. Afterwards, I asked my helper if he'd seen what I had seen and he agreed the object he saw had a definite disk shape.

The direction of the object was approximately east to west. It was not directly overhead but off 10 or 15 degrees to our south so we saw it at a slight angle. The speed seemed similar to conventional aircraft we had seen. No unusual manuevers - just a graceful straight-line flight path.

I have never seen anything like it since. I kind of wish I would, just so I could prove to myself that I accurately observed it and it wasn't just teen-age imaginiation.

I think the vast majority of UFO sightings are explainable in prosaic terms. However, there are a few that probably do represent an unknown phenomenon of some type. As to the nature of that phenomenon, I choose to withhold judgement until some real facts are known.

Full Description & Details

Hi, my name is Al Kumick, and in approx 1977, when I was 14 years old or so, I had a very unique ufo encounter in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was picking up rocks and hitting them with an old baseball bat, in the vacant lot across from my house, when I noticed a slow moving shadow go between my legs. It was a totally cloudless day, but when I looked up to see what was casting the shadow, there was absolutely nothing in the sky. I had plenty of time to look, (about 30 seconds) as I followed the shadow, constantly looking up and down, until the yard ran out, and I was blocked by the hedges from the next yard. The circles were about dinner plate size or a little larger from my perspective, and were not attached. They were moving in perfect unison, and were traveling at the same rate as I was walking to follow them, which was pretty slow. My initial thought was "why can't I see what's causing this shadow" since the shadows seemed more than large enough for me to be able to see it in the sky. (Like when you see a shadow of an airplane, and you know when you look up, it'll be there). So my theory is that they were obviously cloaked, and if so, they're in the skies more than we think.

Full Description & Details

The object was maybe fifteen or twenty two degrees above the horizon when first spotted. Its initial location was north northeast of the place where I stood. It also was north northeast of the town.

It was far enough away that I couldn't tell for sure how dig it was, or how far away. It could have been a mile away and the size of a Cessna. flying fast as a fast prop plane. It could have been a number of miles away, though, in which case, it might be awfully big and awfully fast.

The ufo was silent. Nothing came out of it. Nothing went into it. It was opaque.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky.

It's first motion was downward to its left at a 45-degree angle. When it changed direction in flying the W-shaped course, it made a very tight turn, almost angular.

I like to watch aircraft, and I like unusual ones. This performance appeared impossible to me, but there it was.

In flying this pattern, the object described a big letter "W" with slightly blunted points, flying mainly right to left, that is, east to west. It instantaneously reversed direction with no speed change. It re-flew the course in reverse, west to east, that is, left to right. It changed direction instantaneously again, and re-flew the course in its original direction. It certainly did a good job of retracing its "steps" exactly.

When it had finished "re-drawing" the big W in the sky (not with a contrail, just with its movement), it kept on going up for a little bit, at a 45-degree angle. then it disappeared instantly. It's final location was north northwest of my point of view and north northwest of the town.

While I watched this action, I was so literally dumbstruck, I couldn't talk to anyone, though I could check my watch and note the time. There were various people coming and going because I was at a strip mall. Nobody seemed to look and see why I was standing still and looking up for four minutes. I wonder what they thought. After I came away, I was extremely agitated and mentally asking myself "What was it, what was it?" and wishing it would come back. I had trouble generally talking to people for several hours. It was even more difficult to initiated discussion of having seen an apparent ufo, and I had to go to work pretty soon after that.

Other Comments

Over the years, I've told the story periodically, whenever I've felt like it.

Only two people have ever openly challenged the truth of the story to my face.

Sometimes I ask friends if they've ever seen a ufo. Once in a while somebody says yes and describes the sighting.

An elderly artist-couple living in the same general area saw a ufo near there in the same 5-year period, but it was much closer (a close encounter, perhaps) much smaller and red.

Full Description & Details

I remember it was the summer of 1985-1986 because I was going from 11th grade in high school to 12th grade, and I was working at a local movie theater (my summer job). We didn't have the theater multiplexes back then (not in Vegas, anyway). We had 3 movie theaters at the place I worked at.

After the crowds were let into the final showing of the night, we (employees) waited about 20 minutes, then started to CLEAN UP for the night (this was protocol/procedure). Last shows were about 10:00 pm or so. So an hour or so of cleaning after that, and we'd get to go home. I figure it was between 11:00 or 11:30 pm and midnight when I finally finished that night and took my mother/father's car home.

Back in 1986, near Sunrise Mountain on the East side of Las Vegas was sort of on the "outskirts" of town, but it was slowly building up with new buildings and homes. So it was sort of rural, sort of urban. Sort of a transitional phase.

Anyway, I was nearing my home near Sunrise Mountain (about 3 to 4 miles from the base of the mountain). It was very dark, of course. As I drove, I suddenly noticed up in the sky what I perceived to be a HELICOPTER that was descending VERY QUICKLY from the air toward the ground.

Why did I perceive it to be a helicopter being so dark and all? Because there was a "series of white lights" that SPUN IN A CIRCLE very, very quickly, almost BLURRING in their effect. Of course one does not think immediately "UFO"! The mind first tries to make sense of what it sees. In my case, I took the SPINNING LIGHTS to be "lights on the TIP of the helicopter blades." I did NOT see a "helicopter body." I only saw the SPINNING LIGHTS.

More detail: the lights chased each other in a circle, is another way to describe it. Basically imagine a propeller or frisbee with a series of lights on the outer rim, and the object spinning quickly, and the lights chasing each other.

Well, I'm watching these CHASING LIGHTS, and I realize immediately that this whole thing is DROPPING TO THE GROUND from the air very, very quickly. At first I think the lights/helicopter are merely coming down for a landing, but the faster they DROPPED, the more I thought, "HEY! THIS THING IS GOING TO IMPACT/CRASH!! IT'S DESCENDING WAY TOO FAST!!"

Now to give you an idea of my perspective: I was driving heading EAST toward Sunrise Mountain. This OBJECT/HELICOPTER/SERIES OF CHASING LIGHTS was slightly off to my 11 o'clock position (relative to my facing East with the car, and the direction of my car being 12 o'clock), right outside my front window. I would estimate the HELICOPTER appeared to be a few blocks away from me at most. Let's say roughly about 700 feet. Relative to a standard compass, the object was NORTH/NORTHEAST from my position.

Okay... Being about 16 years old at the time, I thought THIS THING IS GOING TO CRASH!! Again, I'm still thinking it's a HELICOPTER. So what do I do, being 16 years old?? I STEP ON THE GAS and hurry up to "witness the crash!!" Yeah, I know. Morbid.

As I"m speeding up the highway to get closer to this thing, suddenly the BLURRED CHASING LIGHTS each SPLIT UP!!!! "Each" light on the "tip" of what I thought were blades (although I never saw blades, just assumed they were there), BROKE OFF AND WENT OFF IN THEIR OWN DIRECTION!!!!!!!!

Now, they did NOT go off in a direction like, let's say, a bottle rocket of 4th of July fireworks would go off. No, NOTHING like that. Each of these lights went UP, UP, AND UP INTO THE SKY!!!

I forgot to mention, it was a CLEAR NIGHT, and the STARS WERE OUT! And back then you could STILL SEE the stars in the Vegas night sky, especially out by Sunrise Mountain.

So each of these lights went UP, and I literally FROZE, but nonetheless in my instantaneous shock, I guess my mind still tried to hold onto some sanity and FOLLOWED one or two of the lights. It was like a scene out of Close Encounters, and each light went UP into the sky and SETTLED in among the STARS, like PINPOINTS OF LIGHT IN THE SKY!!!!!

The OVERWHELMING SENSE I got during those few seconds was that the lights were either SENTIENT themselves, or CONTROLLED intelligently!

If this was some kind of natural phenomen, I would expect the "lights" to fall to the ground due to gravity. They did not drop. They went UP. They were CONTROLLED, because they spread out.

And the thing that still gets me to this day is the fact that what I perceived to be a SINGLE OBJECT (the helicopter) was actually a SERIES OF OBJECTS, each CHASING the other in a perfect DANCE as they rolled around in a CIRCLE, making the whole display appear to be a series of lights on a PINWHEEL or frisbee or whatever you'd like to compare it to. The fact is the LIGHTS CHASED EACH OTHER, and after they "split up" it became obvious they not only chased each other, but also did so in a PERFECT MANNER WHEREBY THEY MIMICKED A PERFECT CIRCLE WHERE THEY CHASED EACH OTHER.

The last detail: I remember counting no less than 8 BALLS OF LIGHT that split up from the spinning circle of lights and went up into the night sky. 8 balls of light!!!!! Chasing each other!!!!! Then splitting up and going back to the sky!!!!!

And the last thing is that after I saw the lights, I think my perspective on the size of the "object" now that I had seen it was not a helicopter, made me rethink the distance -- the object was probably a little farther out than my first impression. I would say between a half a mile to a mile at most.

And my reaction after that?? I just let off the gas and let the car coast................ I could not believe what I had seen. I was dazed!!! Literally!!!! I pulled over after a few seconds and looked up at the sky. I saw hundreds/thousands of stars, but of course I could not pick out the lights that had gone up to join them. There was no more motion up in the sky. The lights were motionless. Majestic. Serene. And EERIE at the same time, because I KNEW those SENTIENT LIGHTS were there among them!!!!!!!!

Full Description & Details

I was doing an early morning paper round and I saw this light under heavy cloud cover, the light was a narrow oval shape, and although very bright had a very distinct edge around it, not blurred at all. I was only 12 at the time and had an image of friendly aliens whom might exist. But when I saw the light all I could do was freeze on the spot, I couldn't move a muscle. I was literally "scared stiff". Like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a car. I followed the object as it slowly moved across the sky under the clouds, I couldn't help but watch it, I couldn't stop myself, or cycle away, which I desperately wanted to do.

Over and over in my head I just kept repeating to myself "don't come near me, don't come near me, don't come near me, go away, go away, go away" I couldn't think anything else. Then it went behind a cloud, came out, went behind another cloud, came out, went behind another cloud, nothing, it didn't come back. Then I regained the use of my limbs and I cycled home as fast as I could. Of course no-one believed me. And I keep it pretty quiet to this day, as there are too many people ready to mock and pour scorn on you. With all the fantastic stories out there I am not really surprised, I am sceptical myself being a naturally critical person, but my experience was real enough for me to know there is something in it all. I have never seen a picture exactly like what I saw that day and hope one day I see something on film which was the same, perhaps there is, but I just haven't seen it. If you have such a picture I would like to see it.
