Small light that went bright then nothing

I was in a Urban area though I was in a public park area..

I took my friends boy fishing and we as staying by the river camping over night. It was about midnight and a guy and girl walking past stopped to see if we had caught anything.
We had a very clear sky and the stars were out, then we suddenly noticed I did more I think as I was looking up at the time, a small star suddenly got bright, as if it had been turned on there, within no more than 2 sec it was gone and the small star light that was there in the first place.
To this day we are unsure what it was, we know it was nothing from our planet... at least. I know it's only a minor sighting yet it was a sighting.

be explained as any conventional man-made or natural
object?
Nope I don't know nothing that disappears that fast going vertical.

I think I have seen something in the past, I have friends that say they have seen something too, I think we would be silly to think we are alone...

Thanks for creating a site may be we will get to the bottom of it one day... I am not sure what we saw however it was not normal.
