at about 11:58 pm central, a very bright light attracted my eye to the sky a little to the west. the brightness and size of the light was steady while moving due north for just a moment. i watched to see it gradually increase in brightness; far brighter than any star i have ever seen. as it moved slowly to the north, it faded away.
i would have guessed it was a meteorite, but it moved too slowly and it would have had to be coming almost directly down instead of across the sky. also, of the meteorites i have seen that are as bright as this light have had erratic movement and illumination as they burn and/or they break into many peices as it burns.
finally, the quality of the light appeared manufactured and gave me the distinct feeling i had just been scanned along with all of north america.

be explained as any conventional man-made or natural
object?
sure, see above. you guys tell me if the sun can reflect off of a satillite, especially as bright as it was!

i believe there are many planets in the universe that have intelligent life. i have no idea whether other beings have the technology to visit us, or if we are being watched (other than by our own government... ;) ...).
