I guess what makes this sighting so memorable is because it was on my birthday. I was eight years old and all I wanted was a telescope. My mom had given one earlier that day as a birthday present.
That night I went to my friends house who lived on a "dead end" road to test out the telescope.
I caught sight of something floating high above some telephone lines. I decided to scope it out with my cool new toy. I stuck it to my eye and saw something that, to this day, scares the life out of me. It was a spherical object floating above the power lines, high above them. It had definition and a greyish glow about it. As soon as it "caught sight" of me watching it...it pretty much dissapeared in, what seemed like, thin air.
I was so frightened that I slammed my telescope onto the ground, breaking it.
I didnt speak about this experience until about eight years later, to a friend, who is two years older than me.
We got into a discussion about "aliens" and I confessed to him that I believe I had seen a spacecraft around age eight.
He, in turn, told me that he had seen one around age 10. He saw it outside of his window and he was so afraid after the sighting that he didnt leave his home for almost two weeks.
I asked him what month he saw the thing. He told me in the summer..around August.
He described the object and it was the same thing that I saw.
I believe we saw the same thing. It still scares me to think about it.
