Full Description & Details
Go Home Lake is cottage country, aka the "Muskokas" of Ontario. It is situated on the west side of Georgian Bay, close to Bala, Ontario. Back in the 60s there were just a handful of cottages on this lake. Anyways, I was just a kid (somewhere between 10 and 12 years old) coming back from the marina with my older counsin. I sat at the helm of our tiny motor boat helping her navigate a rather narrow and rocky channel. I by chance looked up from my "navigation" position to see this silver saucer spin slowly across the sky about 1/2 km away and maybe 500 feet above the pines. I was in awe which unceremoniously ended when I was jolted back to reality as I near fell headfirst into the channel when our boat banged one of the rocks I was meant to navigate! I daresay I could not reveal this experience to my cousin then; knowing I would be the brunt of jokes for the duration of the summer, if not years to come.
Ah youth! I also vividly remember spending that night sleeplessly listening to every leaf rustle and twig crack from outside my bedroom window.
