Full Description & Details

I was driving my car along the narrow road from Sherborne to Thornford, in Somerset UK, and was passing through an area that was full of trees on either side of the road. It was still daylight but the Sun was just going down and was somewhere ahead of me if I recall. I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw a rectangular luminescent reddy orange object right behind the back window. My initial reaction was one of panic because I thought what I was seeing was the head lamp of one of the articulated milk tankers that use that road and, being as close as it was, would have been in danger of a collision with my car. As I looked again I saw that the light was independant of any other vehicle and that I was alone on the road. It was matching my speed perfectly and was not bright enough to be dazzling, but looked like a head lamp that was on dipped-beam. I state again that it was practically daylight at the time, it was not dark enough for me to have my own headlamps switched on. Looking for a third time, the object was gone. I continued at some speed for several minutes without seeing the object when I became aware that it was to my right. Looking over my shoulder I saw the object again. This time, although it still matched my speed, it was off the road to the right-hand side asnd was passing through the forrest. My obvious reaction was to assume that it was in the sky some distance away, but it passed in front of some trees and behind others. I looked away and again it disappeared. I never saw it again.

I continued to the party I was attending in Thornford where I told 3 of my best friends what I had seen, none of whom believed me. I drove home the next day but took a different route which lead me a long way out of my way and have not taken that road since. I would be very interested to hear of anything similar that has been sighted on or near that particular road in Somerset. I found the whole experience very surreal. I did not feel threatened by the object.

Full Description & Details

Strange lights-16/08/04

After returning from a short break to London where I had inherited a telescope, I was staying with my girlfriend in north-west Cumbria. As the evening in question was a bright, clear evening we had decided to take a walk, after which we would sit in her back garden and look through the telescope at the stars. By the time we had got back to her house and were in her back garden it was approximately 22:30. Unfortunately we were not able to see anything through the scope as all that was visible was vague colours. However, I noticed one peculiar “star” to the north, which was moving rapidly in a straight line from North-North-East of where we were standing towards a North-North-Westerly direction. There was a slight curve in the path of this object shortly before it disappeared from our sight, where the object appeared to move downwards from where we were standing. This object was moving very rapidly, too rapidly for a commercial airline, and appeared to be gaining altitude. My girlfriend had never seen anything like this before, although I had seen the same lights moving erratically through the sky on two separate occasions, when I was with friends who also saw them. The light which it was producing was one steady glow almost identical to the glow produced by a star, and this was fading as the object was rising until it had eventually disappeared from sight. Shortly afterwards another two similar objects appeared going in the opposite direction from the first one, apparently travelling at the same speed as each other but decelerating and then accelerating again at the same time as each other. These were travelling towards each other slowly as if they would eventually meet each other, but faded until they were not visible to us before they did. There were three further similar lights that we saw, one travelling from the north-west towards the north east but starting at what appeared to be quite a low altitude and rising before fading away to nothing. We saw only two more lights, both together and travelling from the north-west towards the north-east at exactly the same speed and on a parallel flight path to each other. These did not fade while we could see them but disappeared over the tops of the houses. This last sighting was just before 22:50. All of the objects had travelled at what appeared to be the same or similar speeds, and the last two went through a slight waver in their path at exactly the same time. I wonder if this wobble could be caused by an object passing through the atmosphere. These two objects also flew behind the clouds, which proves that they were higher than them. While we were watching we had no idea where they came from or how they appeared, because all of a sudden we just noticed what appeared to be a star moving. It is possible that they may have been stationary for a period of time before moving, although there were too many stars in the sky to tell, or they may just have appeared as they were moving. Our penultimate sighting had appeared in the sky near a particularly odd star, which appeared to be changing colour with pink, yellow and blue appearing as well as being constantly white as we were watching it, as opposed to glimmering. This star was very low and to the north, remaining stationary throughout the time that we were watching so there is a possibility that this is nothing out of the ordinary. It is also possible that the lights which we saw were of a terrestrial origin, but if they were they were something which not very many people know about because military aircraft don not display lights like this or move so quickly away from sight.

The first occasion on which I had seen something like this I was with just one other friend. We had both been at a coastal village in Cumbria just south of the Sellafield nuclear site, and had noticed two particularly bright stars to the north of us, apparently far to the north of the nuclear facility. I pointed these out to my friend and we had thought nothing more of them, until one of them started to move around the other in perfect circles. At exactly the same time the one that had been moving stopped still and the other one began to travel towards the north very rapidly, eventually fading away to nothing. The one which had moved first then stayed still, apparently hovering, for the rest of the time that we were there. Because my friend had got on the last bus to go home I know that this sighting was at around 7pm, and during the early months of spring as it was dark, although unfortunately I cannot be any more precise about this.

The second occasion on which something like this had happened I was with a few friends, none of whom had seen something like this as far as I was aware, and we were near Millom in Cumbria looking out south across the estuary. The time would have been about 11pm-11:30pm, and it was during June. Something odd was first noticed when only one star like object had been moving upwards and towards the south rapidly. This was dismissed as being a satellite by the rest of the group, although I did not think that it was and kept on watching it. Another object then appeared at the same time and moved backwards and forwards across the sky, before stopping still. The original object continued to rise and fade until it was very small, at which point an even smaller light appeared to come out of it, loop around it once and stop so the both objects were stationary for a split second, before the first one disappeared leaving only the new, very, very faint star-like object. The other people who were there did not see anything out of the ordinary in this, and I believe that they had only seen the star when it was travelling in a straight line. Every time I have seen these objects I have not felt any fear or irrational emotion, nor have I experienced anything out of the ordinary like loss of time sometimes reported by the victims of abductions, but I have felt an incredibly strong fascination with the objects which I have seen and the urge to learn more about them.

Other Comments

Please email me and tell me what you think. I am fairly certain that these cannot possibly be conventional aircraft, is there any other man made object that they could be? Has anybody else had a similar sighting? Thank you in advance for your help. PS I am now fascinated with ufology, are there any magazines/rescources etc for research purposes?

Full Description & Details

I went outside at 10.40p.m. to lock my car. It was extemely cold and the sky was very clear. I immediately noticed 2 bright orange lights moving slowly in the sky. I called my 16 year old daughter straight away to come and have a look. Coincidently, my neighbour had just got home from work and I called her over, so there were 3 of us. The lights were in the same line of sight of a flight path in our area and there was a plane heading for the airport at the time. We live not too far from Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne, Australia. This gave us something relative to compare the lights to. One light was higher than the other and they seemed to be moving down, then across to the left. They were much slower than the plane. We felt that they were closer to us than the plane was. They then seemed to alternatively hover and move slowly for a few minutes. Then the lower one started moving away from us first. Then both the lights seemed to move away very quickly, and get smaller until they were pinpoints, then they disappeared. They moved much faster than a plane or helicopter could have. We were watching all of this for about five minutes, so it gave us alot of time to quiz each other on whether we could hear rotor blades or engines. There was no noise. We agreed that they weren,t planes or helicopters.

Full Description & Details

The encounter started sometime after 9:00 PM on a thursday in March, possibly the 11th. I was sitting in my backyard on the roof of my shed talking on the phone when I leaned back and saw an airplane flying over head. It was obviously an airplane, with standard lights and heading north as most of the sirliners do over Mount Shasta. But as I looked at the airplane, I noticed two faint lights moving next to the plane. One light was behind the other, as if on an invisible square with one light on the bottom left nad the other on the top right. They moved smoothly and passed the air plane. They're movment resembled that of a satlite I'd sen years ago. Not thinking much of it, I began to explain the sighting to my friend on the phone when something undeniably odd happened. From behind the airplane, which was now no longer overhead, came a bow shape of seven or eight lights with one of them off set slightly from the others. They moved in the same fluent speed as the others, but as they passed overhead they broke apart, all still heading north out of my range of vision.

Overwhelmingly dumbfounded and excited by the encounter, I rushed inside and told my family and friend who had been living with us at the time. After explaining what had happened, my younger brother and friend went and stood in the backyard, watching the skys. Not long after, my friend and I spotted another sort of bow shaped set of lights heading north, but my brother didn't see it. We waited even longer, maybe 20 or 30 minutes, then saw a triangle shaped set of lights, which my brother also saw.

We waited for at least two hours in total watching the sky, and saw a few more less notable sets of lights. Toward the end, there were single lights that flew more irratically, which I now belive were owls or bats or the like.

Full Description & Details

15:30 On my way to Michigan Governer's Residence to work on security systems. Sitting on freeway exit ramp on upward incline (5 deg?) facing west north west waiting for traffic to clear.

I see a Boeing 727 accelerating after takeoff from Lansing Airport. The 727 is gaing alititude gently tracing a path from my left to right. (Air corrador runs approximatly north east to south west in that area). Flight path is just above the center of my view through windshield. Aircraft is backlit approximatly 30 deg to my left. Sun is not directly visible from my location. Shortly after 727 came into view (fist width at arm length) I saw what appeared to be a bright spherical object aproach the 727 from behind and slightly below at very high velocity (two to three times speed of 727). The object raced past the 727, traveled about five or six times the length of the aircraft and came to an abrupt stop. Reversed course and flew past 727 at hight rate of speed ascross and in forground of 727. Traveled aproximately 1/3 of the length of 727 past tail and made an extreemly tight, slightly inclined turn around 727 tail to the left. (Incline was down to up within verticle dimension of tail fin). The object flew paralell to 727 to point approximatly 1/4 727 length from tail and started to corkscrew spiral around 727 at about twice the 727's ground speed parallel to 727's flight path. Dimention of spiral relaitive to 727 appeared as if it just cleared the main wings. Object spiraled past 727 to about one and a half times 727 length and reversed course to 727 on flat tragectoy opposing 727...there is more...
