Appearance / Description of Object(s)BRIGHT red lights, much brigher than any plane/helicopter navigation lights. Size of Object(s)They were much brighter than any star. They actually looked like the same red color emitted by flares but they lasted way too long and did not fall back toward the earth as they reached apogee. Distance to Object(s) & AltitudeUnknown, rose from the horizon to about 75 degrees above the horizon. Description of Area / SurroundingsOceanfront beach house. Totally clear and unobstructed view. There were no visible ships on the horizon. Full Description & DetailsThese lights rose straight into the night sky and retained their C shaped formation, within 30-40 seconds and at random intervals over the next 3 to 5 minutes, 5 more lights appeared rising from the same location in single file. The lights rose to about 75 degrees above the horizon and either winked out or were obscured by high clouds. They never appeared again after rising above the cloud cover. The total number of lights was 9, 4 together in the C formation followed by 5 following the same trajectory. They were bright red and as they rose higher and higher into the sky they began to appear to flame out as they were going into the cloud cover. Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?I thought it could have been an inbound object from space that skipped off the atmosphere at a high latitude and burned out as they disappeared into space.
