Edge of a quite town, clear view of Kilimanjaro and surrounding hills. No buildings obstructing view, no traffic noise.

Full Description & Details

I was born in a Town called Moshi at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro. Our house was situated on the outskirts of the town and had a roof Terrace giving a very clear view of the skies and surrounding mountain range.

In August 1966 my parents were on the terrace and they called me and my younger sister to see something they had been watching for over 10 minutes. My uncle also joined us.

When we reached the terrace we saw three lights forming a cluster travelling slowly towards Kilimanjaro, i.e moving from South to North. We were facing East and Kilimanjaro was on our left. The objects kept stopping at regular intervals for at least 1 or 2 mins every time.

After a few minutes the objects stopped for a good few minutes before it reached Kilimanjaro.

Then, one of the lights from the cluster detached itself from the cluster, hovered for a few seconds and then shot up into the sky (or space) at phenomenal acceleration. After a couple of minutes, a second light detached itself, hovered for a while and shot up in a different direction. Finally after a few more minutes the last one shot up in yet another direction. There was absolutely no sound, the sky was clear and we were at that time used to watching the sputnik and Gemini spacecraft orbiting the earth at relatively pedestrian speeds.

The town Moshi had one Airport for small aeroplanes, which was not used everyday, and the closest jet plane we ever saw was the direct BOAC VC10 flight once a week from Dar es Salaam to London flying over Kilimajaro.

After almost 46 years we still do not have the technology to perform the manouvers that these objects made.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

No - we still do not have the capability. There was no sound, no clouds, and the town did not have air traffic, just brightly lit stars. We were familiar with satellites e g Sputnik. Gemini

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I was 14 yrs old. It was my first and only sighting. I just assumed if I had seen it then the Americans/Russian astronauts etc must know about them.

Other Comments

It appears from other reports that these types of objects have been around for a few thousand years- perhaps they are just watching us and have no other interest. It is also very likely that the occupants are some type of " Humanoid Robots" controlled by beings in distant stars
