Appearance / Description of Object(s)

It was dark, oblong and rounded. it was surrounded by lights. it was quite large, from the ground it seemed as large as a tractor-trailer, but may have been larger due to the distance.

Size of Object(s)

If my arms were fully extended, it wouldn't have gone end to end on the object. I am a 5'6" women approximately 110 lbs.

Distance to Object(s) & Altitude

It was very close, higher than the tree line, but not as high as a plane would fly.

Description of Area / Surroundings

This is a suburban area, opposite Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant to the east, and South of West Point.

Full Description & Details

While driving South on the Palisades Parkway, my boyfriend and I noticed this large dark, oblong object, surrounded by lights to the left of the car. It was higher than the trees, but not very far away. Quite large, it was traveling slowly, like a hover. We pulled of the parkway to continue to see the object. Four other cars were off the road at the same location watching the object in the sky.

We all just confirmed with each other the sighing, and when it was no longer in view, got back in our cars and drove off. It was traveling slowly, and again, didn't seem to be terrible far away.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

None that I have ever seen.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I was 24 at the time. A female. I have enjoyed fiction reading. Think that there are unexplained events, but haven't believed that we have aliens among us or aliens that have visited the planet.

Other Comments

I just came across the book on Hudson Valley UFO's and was shocked to see that other's had witnessed this object during the same time period. The object appeared to me just as the illustration that accompanied the article appeared. I am amazed that so many others witnessed the same type of object.
