A beautiful coastal road on the windward side of Oahu. Bellows Air Force Beach is about 3 miles from sighting object seen flying/floating over beach's shore

I could not sleep and decided to go on a drive with my dog to the beach. After driving towards our local beach, I had an urge to go keep driving and go to a different beach further away. As I was driving eastward on a coastal highway at around 1:30 am on 8/25/06 with my dog in the passenger side of car. Ahead of us, we saw a glowing ball floating/flying over the ocean (ocean on my left) the object was close to the highway (40-50 feet away from road around 50 yards ahead of us) and very low to the ground (20 to 30 feet). There is road work being done so the two lane highway is now a one lane and I did not see any other cars coming towards me. There were no cars anywhere to be seen. I looked at the time and it was 1:38am. As I got closer, I passed the object on my left, and noticed that it was actually moving slowly in the opposite direction. I could not believe my eyes and wanted to make sure that I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. At this point, the road had returned to a two lane and cones were gone. I quickly did a u-turn at and started driving towards it following its course westward. Now the object was on the passenger side and my dog intently watched it as I drove alongside the object. The object kept steady on course westward but "drunkedly teetered" a couple of times. We were driving right alongside the object at 20mph for over a mile. The highway is slightly elevated with ocean below so at 30 feet high, the object was actually close to our eye level. So, side by side we were travelling and I was amazed at how long this was going on. It did not seem to mind or notice us (or so I thought) I came out of my "curious daze" and suddenly thought "what is it? Should I really be driving right next to it when there's no one around?How long is this going to go on?" I wasn't sure what to do. I slowed my car and called my husband on my cell phone (according to cell phone records it was 1:58am) As I spoke to him, I kept watching the object continue westward and described it to my husband. My husband did not think I should follow it, so I turned around and went the other way in my orginal direction of eastbound . after a minute of this, I really wanted to see it again so I turned around yet again at a beach park near Sealife Park. So I was back driving in its direction hoping to catch up with it. At this point, I could no longer see the object. I made three u-turns during this incident and if anyone had seen me, they would've wondered what the heck was going on. I wish I could answer that question. This is not the first time I have seen unexplainable objects, but this incident went on for quite some time so this is very interesting to me.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

Could have been a military testing of a top secret surveillance spy drone but one would think they'd choose a less public area to test it.

I believe in extra terrestrial visitation. At the same time, I think that some UFOs are invented by the military or private companies testing air defense/offense craft.

Other Comments

this is my 6th sighting. The first one was in 1979. After that first one (which had at least 10 witnesses) each time I've had a sighting it was because I had an urge to go somewhere or talk about it. When I've had other witnesses, the sightings occurred just as I was giving my account of a previous sighting. For some reason, I'd have an urge to talk about a previous sighting and suddenly, one would appear for us to see. Surprisingly, each time this has happened the object was a new one and not at all like any others I had seen or was describing. None of the six have been the same type of object. They have all been different shapes and sizes. So, the joke is that I have the power of persuasion to cause group hallucinations and mass hysteria.

See above, that is about all I can report. I had a side view of the object, so it might have been a disc or or cigar shape, but pointed at both ends.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I knew an airline pilot who saw a UFL off his left wing abourt 25 years ago. I also knew a bow hunter who saw objects (lights) skipping across the mountains in Northern CA. I teach Science and have seen the "deep space" photos of space from the Hubble Telescope. The universe is much larger than we once thought and the stastical chance that there is intelligent life on other planets is probabily 100% -- and they can probably visit the earth...

Missile-like metal tube is reported over Hilo Airport

HILO » The FBI and the Transportation Security Administration are investigating sightings of an object resembling a missile flying over the Hilo Airport area Tuesday morning, Hawaii County Civil Defense said.

Reports gave opposite descriptions of its direction and widely varying estimates of its size.

The largest estimate was about 12 feet long, and the smallest was one foot. One report said it was headed over the airport's main runway, but another said it was headed north from Hilo, away from the airport.

Civil Defense official Lanny Nakano said the federal agencies classified the sighting as unconfirmed. The FBI and TSA did not return requests for comment.

Nakano, reading from notes from another Civil Defense official, said it was seen at 10:18 a.m. headed away from the airport.

But an eyewitness, who asked that his name not be used, told the Star-Bulletin he saw it heading from the Civic Auditorium area to the Keaukaha area, which would take it over the main runway.

That witness saw a silver tube with no markings or fins, trailing "vapor" that quickly dispersed.

"The noise was super-loud," he said.

Police also interviewed about a half-dozen witnesses who saw or heard it, said police spokeswoman Chris Loos.

Loos and the nameless witness said there were plane flights before and after the object was sighted, but the object did not appear connected to their presence.

At Pohakuloa Training Area, 30 miles to the west, spokesman Bob McElroy said there were no military exercises using missiles.

When I looked up.....I really thought I was seeing an airplane "on fire".... a bright orange-red glow like a fire. I drove West keeping the object in my sight much of the time. When I got to the West edge of town....I stopped and watched the object....almost hover....then turn on it's side....thus a saucer shape.....then becoming almost circular....and just seemed to "slide" out of sight. The object was going West....then almost hovered...then , from a "cigar shape".or.."fuslage shape" to an oval then a circle....and as I say....from a Westerly direction to Southerly direction....and just seemed to slide out of site.

I was stopped in my car....a guy in a Pickup was next to me, as we had pulled into a parking lot of a business..... I walked over to his pickup....we both said.... "we couldn't believe what we saw..".

I never got his name....I wish we'd have exchanged more information.

But, this happend so fast, so unexpectdly,... that one doesn't have time to think.

I have mentioned this incident "on the air" various times....always with some repercussions wondering if I had been "on the Martini's ? "

I guess the most vivid thing I remember....when I first saw it....I really thought it was an airplane on fire..... I heard no sounds....but, as I say, it all happens sooooo fast....

I saw 3 times sky lighting up in different areas towards Darwin east rural area. Although other people I know spoke of other sightings and reported power failures and cars not starting, I only saw the sky light up 3 times this night and then again twice on another night.

I did not experience power failure but the lights in my house did flicker.

An American B2 stealth bomber stopped in Darwin on route to Guam some days previous. The US military were reported to be trialling a new spy plane in Darwin. People I spoke with suspected that maybe the US had perfected the Electro Magnetic Pulse which could explain power surges and failures including cars and machinery.

I had my first sighting last year which was a silver orb that rotated in the center. This sighting lasted 15 seconds before the object disappeared before my eyes in broad daylight. At first I thought it was a helicopter. I have always believed that some ufo sightings are real, some are faked and many are the result of natural phenomena or man made objects.

Other Comments

Over the last 10 years there has been an increase in sightings in the Northern Territory and Darwin in particular. This report was submitted because Tahmoor is a long way from Darwin.
