Observed a bizarre object in the night sky while driving late one night. Sky was very dark , blanketed by clouds. No moon. No stars. That's why this object 'popped' out at us. We thought it was a gigantic wind sock -- very high in the sky. Too High. It was like a sideways triangle and glowing bright reddish orange from within. We lost it behind the tree line. Found it again a moment or two later, but this time it was a rectangle shape. Again, all lit up inside. It appeared to be very high and moving. We tried following it when we lost it behind trees again. About a minute later as we approached a high spot in the road overlooking the city of Glens Falls we saw it! A massive sphere in the sky (my daughter commented that it looked like a planet exploding). It was partially covered by clouds. We could only see the bottom third. It was so huge and three dimensional. We were screaming! It looked like it was coming in for a landing. Totally frightening to see. No sounds. Just this giagantic glowing, moving sphere. We tried chasing it but it changed course and got farther and farther away until it was suddenly just gone.

The most remarkable an surreal experience we've ever had. While we saw it in the sky we were terrified. Something made us feel 'sure' this was not of this world. Have never had sightings before. Very scary experience. Thought if was going to land and create huge crater in the earth (with us under it!)

See above, but to summarize again, the object was a perfect narrow elliptical shape that could only be seen when it flashed. The shape was very sharp and distinct, as in the light did not diffuse outwards at all, and was bright white. There were no details that could be seen, as in markings, shadows or perspectives. The shape flashed about 30 times, always within the same part of the sky, but always at a slightly different angle and position. After the last flash, it was gone from sight and did not reappear. It did not appear to come any closer or move any further away by any noticable distance for the entire duration.

Reaching out my hand, I would say that I could have covered the shape with 4 fingers, definitly not fewer than 3. To guess the actual size is much more difficult as there was no perspective or point of reference. It was certainly closer than the moon! Seriously, I would hazard a guess that it was at least the size of a medium to large airliner, but that really is a guess at best.

Again, this is very difficult to say. At another guess, I'd say between 1 and 10 kilometres.

In the rural prairie farm and acreage lands between Calgary and Okotoks in Alberta. Relatively flat with some rolling hills. The only special features I can think of are the town and city themselves, as well as the junction between the busy number 2 highway and the 2A.

I've never actually considered reporting this sighting, and not because I am worried about ridicule or secrecy because I've talked about it with family and friends. Actually, I've recently become a little more interested in UFO research after some friends have told me about their own experiences. This reminded me of my own sighting and rekindled my curiosity, so I went online to see what kinds of websites exist and what kind of information is available. Seeing as this site is happy to accept and even encourages people to share their stories, I don't see why I shouldn't also share mine.

I live in Calgary, Alberta, and my mum's best friend lives with her own family in Okotoks (a small town south of Calgary). My mum's friend's daughter, nearly the same age as I, is by way of fate my own best friend. For this reason, my mum and I made our way out to Okotoks at least once a month for visits.

This sighting happened when I was 15 years old, so it would have been 1992, in the late spring or early summer. Still living with my mother, obviously, we were on our way home to Calgary fairly late in the evening after one of our many visits, my mother driving. My brother and sister, 10 years my junior, were being annoying and loud in the back seat and, as I was sitting in the front passenger seat, I did my best to ignore them. I was facing roughly east

looking out of the passenger window, and the full moon was exceptionally beautiful this night as some fine, wispy clouds were catching the light around it. To keep my visual field free of all reflections, I cupped both of my hands around my face against the glass.

Quite suddenly, I saw a bright flash in the shape of a perfect, narrow ellipse. A classic saucer shape, I suppose, but there was no perspective points or shadows, it was just bright white all over. The edges of the shape were sharp, as were the points of the ellipse. Not quite sure of what I'd just seen, as the flash of shape had only occured for a split second, my breath caught in my throat as I waited to see if it would again appear. Then, the shape did flash again, the very same size, but at a different angle and slightly different position, and then again and again. This shape flashed about 30 times, always in the same vicinity, before it vanished altogether. I hadn't realized that by this time I was crying and frightened and was yelling at my mother to pull the car over so that she could see. By the time she had, however, the object was long gone.

Though this was the most dramatic thing of this genre to which I, personally, have ever been witness, it was not the only oddity around Okotoks I'd seen. My aforementioned friend and I, while being driven from Calgary to Okotoks one night in her parents' car, both saw a strange glow in a farmer's field while the adults were preoccupied up front. The light was a pale bluish white that was coming up from the dirt and illuminating the stocks of wheat, but

was not bright enough to reach right to the heads of the grass. There was no object visible from which the light was emitted, it just seemed to be glowing straight out of the earth. Another time where I was not present, my same friend was at another friend's home on the very edge of town. In these folks' back yard, which faced out into the open countryside, they had a trampoline. While the two girls were laying on the trampoline one night looking at the stars, they noticed a dark moving shape blocking out some of the stars. It approached the edge of town and then stopped about 150 feet away from the girls and about 100 feet off of the ground. It was triangular in shape with rounded corners, but they couldn't make out any details as there were no lights on it whatsoever, it was in pure shadow. It made a slight whisper sound when it once again began to move, this time away from town and out of sight.

Though I'm happy to share my story, I would also love to know if you folks have any ideas, even speculation about these objects. Or if you know of any quite similar occurrences from others that maybe you could point out to me, I would greatly appreciate it.

No. I've seen just about every conventional thing in the sky, and this was unlike all of them. Also, my hands were cupped around my face to prevent reflection, so that theory is out. Believe me, I sure tried to find a conventional explanation for my own peace of mind!

Didn't know much before hand, but a little bit as learned from the news and the X-Files! I didn't disbelieve in them, but I had no personal fascination or conscious belief in them. Afterwards, of course I believe in them. But as to what they may be, I have no clue. There seems such a variety of objects sighted that it's hard to write them off as any one thing.

I was traveling North from Marshall, IL on Rt. 1 toward Paris. It was after I had worked the night shift at about 3 am. There was not other vehicles or farm lights around. I checked on the farm light the following night to be sure. The lights, possible 4 or 5 coming from the west toward the highway. I stopped my car, turned off the radio and just watched them. They appeared to be about tree heighth or maybe a little higher, but close. I didn't see what the lights were attached to at any time. There was no sound. When the lights got right over my car, a bright white light came on and lit up the highway around me. I immediately went to the other side of the car to watch it go past, but it was gone. I wonder now if there was a time lapse from the time the white light came on and when I slid over to watch it. It seemed so strange that after watching the lights, that it was as if they had never been there.

Of course, being a logical person, I assumed airplane and the white light was landing gear, but I had to take into account the silence and the fact that the nearest airport was in Terre Haute, IN and that would be a little soon for landing lights. Besides the white light was not on the ground before it got to me. I saw it come on.

i was around 10 yrs old went to check snares with my dog.my dog refused to follow never did that before. i took a different trail and ended up at the edge of a field and saw at the other end a circular eye looking over the field and it saw me and it seemed to realize i saw it too and it lunge at me and i dont know if it hit me or not or was jus trying to escape. the eye was large about 1 meter across by 1 meter high by about 1-2 ft deep from my angle as it was panning in a sideways motion.

i think it came from somewhere close because i shot down something like a large bug

just days before i saw the eye. it was jus starting to be dusk and i saw this bug but it was weird though. it made no sound and hovered about 20 ft off the ground for quite a few minutes but it didnt really look like a bug but i could see it moving slowly like drifting with the calm wind currents. i kept trying to shoot it down but kept missing. i finally hit it after about 50 shots and it sounded weird like hitting something harder than a bug but i could not find it anywhere after seeing it fall into a clump of low grass bushes. i wish i could remember everything. to this day i think this eye came looking for the ufo bug.

I was standing outside my place of business, waiting for my wife, when i noticed a hawk in the sky. As I followed its flight, my eyes were diverted to two moving star-like objects, moving in formation across the sky at about 45 degrees. As my wife pulled up, I frantically waved her over, and we stood together and watched as these two "stars" moved in a parallel formation....only what convinced us that they weren't orbitting objects, was that they geometrically changed their flight path...raing and lowering their altitude, very iradically, but always together. We watched in stunned silence for about 5 minutes until they disappeared into horizon. Afterwards, we both felt a profound feeling of only what i can describe as a longing, or lonliness.....kind of an empty feeling...which we discussed with each other for days after the sighting. I tried to find any other comparative events on the various web sites for weeks after, but was unsuccessful.

It had blue-green lights. One was large, at the bottom center of the object. Others were in around the bottom center and near the middle sides of the object. I couldn't see much else of it, so unfortunately I don't know if it was metallic or what color it was.

I had always been looking at the skies, hoping to find something. Moving to Denver gave a new "frontier", if you will, to watch. I was coming back from work one night, and after getting out of my car I saw something over the apartment building I lived in. It was relatively low and moving rapidly. I watched it for a short while before it went straight up until I could no longer see it.

We were on a tour of Sabino Canyon at approximately 2 pm in mid-April, 2004; we had just reached the end of the road and were preparing to head back. I took this picture looking back the way we came, but did not notice these objects at the time. I recently showed a photographer friend my trip pics, when he pointed out the objects in this picture and asked me what they were. I thought they were just birds, but when I zoomed in on them, we were very surprised at what we saw!! Unfortunately, I didn't have the quality set to fine or superfine, so it pixilates alot when you zoom in past a certain point. Regardless, these 2 objects are saucer-shaped with light grey tops (reflective metal-you can see the sun shining off them) and dark underbellies. One can make out what appears to be static discharge off of one of the objects. These objects did not show up in any pictures taken before or after this one, nor did anyone around us indicate that they saw anything unusual.

This was the year before i went to boarding school in Grahamstown South Africa. My mother was driving through Hells Poort in the morning and i was in the back seat. Looking down into valley i saw a circular silver shimmering object with a raised dome hovering above the ground. I can still identify the exact place so know the distance to be approx 300 meters from the road. The diameter of object was about 15 meters across. I tried to draw attention to it but in an instant it shot up the valley at great speed and disappeared out of line of sight. I had no idea what it was but certainly knew it was not a plane. It was only some 3 years later that i saw some pictures in a library book and suddenly realised what i had seen. Up to that point i had no idea of UFO's.
