I must have been the size of a small plane. I was so bright which made it difficult to tell.

Slightly above the tree line.

Rural area. No military bases that i know of, or power plants.

On a mostly clear summer night i was sitting outside my home having a bonfire. I had my family over and they had just left twenty minutes before the sighting. I has begun to hear a strange humming noise and i had thought at first that it was my neighbour's a/c, until it began to get louder. I was looking around to see what i could account for the sound when i looked up to see a very bright object slightly outline with a red glow on the right side. I stared at it for about five minutes trying to convince myself it was a plane. I couldnt. I shot across the night sky north so fat i know that it wasnt from this planet. I Don't normally believe in UFO's and all that stuff but what i felt that night makes me very unsure. I felt i had to tell someone, i've been having terrible nightmares since then.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

No.

I am not sure now, but i had never really read or researched anything. Now i am starting to.
