Appearance / Description of Object(s)

The object looked like a moving flashlight that disappeared. I couldn't tell of a shape due to the darkness of the sky, but the light was real.

pretty high, higher than I a plane would be during takeoff or landing.

Description of Area / Surroundings

urban area, airport about fifteen to thirty miles away. military bases are in the area, just not sure how close.

Full Description & Details

I was getting off work and happened to look up at the sky between 1:30 and 2 am and saw a light traveling too fast to be a plane with no blinking lights as airplanes do have. The light traveled for about 100 feet then shot off. Something else i noticed was that there was no sound coming from the craft. Airplanes usually have some type of sound as they travel in the sky, I live near the airport, but this was quiet.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?
