Full Description & Details

I was on flightline watch while in the U.S. Navy at NAS Norfolk, Va. I noticed a craft hovering over the runway approximately 1/2 mile away at an altitude of less than 500 feet. It "jinked" side to side approximately four times the diameter of the ship. It had a perimeter of lights around the craft, with a large bluish light coming from a circular opening on bottom of craft half the diameter of the ship. It also had what appeared to be a red blinking anticollision light on the top, (which is puzzling to me). I was about to call it in on my radio after determining that it was not a helicopter or vertical take-off aircraft. I thought it might be a spy craft of some sort until it speed away at near or at the speed of light. It seemed to stretch light as it departed horizontally over the horizon. I jumped to my feet expecting to see an explosion in the tree line. That is when it dawned on me that it had gone over the horizon and that it could not be of this world. Whoever designed it knew allot more about physics than we do. It was drawn like a magnet silently without ever breaking the sound barrier! I thought about telling others but was afraid of repercussions. I noticed that within thirty minutes three Navy radar planes (E-2's) were launched and went in different headings so I think someone in the tower probably saw it too.
