I was facing west last night at about 10 pm looking out over the Hudson River. I noticed was appeared to be two very dull looking headlights coming towards me (east). I was thinking that the lights were so dull and gave offa strange almost X like pattern as it very very slowly moved through the clouds. then I realized there was NO haze or NO clouds at all in the sky. the stars we shining extremnely clear last night. i suddenly thought that this was a bizarre looking thing. i called for my husband to come out. it took him a few moments. By the time he came out the object appeared to be almost like a soft cloud floating towards our house. we got out binoculars, and could see a very soft looking object..yet a VERY clearly defined shape. it was almost like a butterfly shape with a very pointed front. Although it was cloud like...it was very defined and it stayed consistant. We watched as it went directly above our house continuing towards the east where is faded.

I have never seen anything like this in my life. It was not a cloud. It was fainlty illuminated. We tried aclling Stewart Airbase, but no on answered. I don't know how large it was. It appeared to be very high up in the sky to me...and very very large. But I guess it is all relative to how high up it was. As it passed...you could not see the stars behind it.
