My wife woke me at around 5:30 a.m. so I could get a weather briefing for a flight to KLAS, but what she said when she jumped on the bed was a bit strange. She said she had been outside on our patio area smoking and noticed the big bright star like object and that it was getting bigger and bigger and appeared to be moving slowly. So I went into the kitchen and looked for myself, saw it and told her it was probably just a satelite traveling through the sky, or a star or something drink some more coffee. I got everything done, grabbed my flight-bag and wife, we went out to my car on the street looked up, and OMG, there it was big as life. I swear my mind would not except what I was seeing, so I grabbed my binoculars from my truck and looked at it, again, OMG(oh my god)! It was a mettalic sphere right over the terminal, just stationary, 747's flying overhead on the arrival procedure. It appeared to be large, at least 50ft in diameter, hard for me to say. I was at 18th and Montana in Santa Monica, just to give some perspective. I figured it was gonna be all over the news so we didn't stay and watch anymore, and I still wasn't completely convinced. Come to find out later after getting home, not a word on it. 2 yrs later I mentioned this to a new coworker, he looked at me and said "you gotta read this article I have at home", so he brought it in the next day, it was in a magazine called of all things, UFO Sightings, I laughed at him, that was until I saw the article, it was all these eyewitness reports from passangers that morning at KLAX.
