My friend and I were taking another friend home. We saw the object (oval shaped) floating above a very large one story building. We stopped the car along side the highway (M-55) and watched the object hover for about a minute. It was brightly colored with a string of lights running all the way around the object in the middle of the object. (Looked like a string of small Christmas lights) . We then started on our way and turned onto Dam road. As we did, the object started moving and kept pace with us. We then became very frightening. ( it was silent...no sound at all.) We sped up to about 60 m.p.h. All of the sudden the object shot out at high speed and disappeared within seconds. To this day we don't know what it was. True story. We have told only family members until now. One of the witnesses has since passed away. I am a school teacher living in Florida now and remember the incident as if it were yesterday. I have looked for other such objects in the sky since then and have seen no more. I saw the object when I was 16. Now at 47, I still wonder as to just exactly what it was that we saw in 1973 in Northern Lower Peninsula Michigan. I KNOW it was not a weather balloon, or swamp gas, or a jet, or Venus, or the moon, or clouds or a reflection..

I know WHAT IT WASN'T. So what was it?

After this incident, I become fascinated with space and the exploration of space. We now live near NASA an I have been blessed to see many NASA liftoffs.
