Description of Area / Surroundings

It was over the Interstate Highway. A reasonably well lit area with surounding townships, but this particular spot was nowhere around any close buisneses.

Full Description & Details

At approximately 1 hour past sunset (8 PM?), on Memorial Day of this year(March 30?), I was traveling south on I 85 approximately midway between the cities of Charlotte and Gastonia, North

Carolina. Traveling at pretty much a due west direction, I was "almost" blinded by a brilliant green blob / flash of light which appeared slightly to my right and at a 40 to 45 degree angle from the horizon. When I say blob / flash, I mean this. Anyone who has used a face shield when using an arc welder is familiar with the plasma like blob of electrical fire that is emited when the positive rod is touched to the negative metal material. The blob morphs into a some what elongated appearance, as if it is sprouting erradic finger like appendages. This is what I saw, except it was a beautiful green color and very bright. Startlingly bright. It was like turning a light switch on and off real fast, no risidual hues. I then jutted my face over the steering wheel, so as to see beyond and above the roof of the truck, and I then saw nine red lights forming the shape of a triangle. At this point, I pull over and stop the truck as I was only traveling at 55 mph, there was nobody behind me, and I had a light load. If you held out a silver dollar from your face at arms length, this is how large this thing appeared to me. It was travelling at a slow rate of speed in a due north direction, parallel with the Catawba River toward Lake Norman. I could tell that the black area inside the triange was different from the surrounding night time, it had a milky like appearance and I soon found out why. It gave me just enough time to get my binnoculars and zoom in on it. Oh, yes there was a slight amount of moisture in the atmosphere that night. Viewing it with the glasses I could see that that there were tentacle like appendages dangleing from beneath the craft formed by the slight amount of water molecules in the air, thus the milky look from the ground. The craft drifted toward Lake Norman untill it got about the size of a nickel and then it blinked off.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

Although this airborne vehicle was spotted in the vacinity if an airport , I have never seen anything that looked or behaived like this.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I have always been a believer from the time that the issue came into my conciousness at about the age of 6 yrs of age. However, I didn't begin to see strange things in the sky untill about two years ago.

Other Comments

Although I was driving an eighteen wheeler at the time, and I really didn't have a very good vantage point, it just seems to me that this object didn't appear untill after that green flash. I am of the opinion that this vehicle emerged from of or out of that green flash of plasma type light. In addition, this flash of light apparently emmited no sound waves, as there was a cop on the other side of the Interstate with a pulled over car. He was obviously oblivious to the whole thing. It was on a holiday evening, not much traffic out, but I seemed to be the only one who stopped. I will also be so bold as to say this...I think think this event was "for" me.
