while walking my dog in a field near my apartment, i noticed an object very high in the clear blue sky. at first i thought it was an airplane but i couldnt see any wings. the object was cylindrical and metalic. i noticed a red diamond shaped aura around the object and then the sky began to sparkle like sunlight reflecting off the ripples on a pond in the sunlight. while watching the object it began to eminate a very bright light clearly visable even in the daylight. i looked away for a moment because the sparkeling light around me was obstructing my vision. i looked around for a moment and rubbed my eyes hoping the effect would stop. when i looked again the object had disapeared and shortly after my sight returned to normal.

i thought the object was a plane and the bright light could have been a reflection of the setting sun but it was extremly bright and there is no explaination for the bright sparkles or its sudden disappearence

My main sighting happened at the end of June in 1978. I've had a handful of sightings since then but this was the "biggie", so to speak. I'm 46 now, but at the time I had just turned 19. I knew a women named Patty (about 30ish) who was a belliever (disciple?) of Alistair Crowley, the infamous English black sorcerer. How I came to be involved with her would take too long delineate, but at the time, I was convinced that the world was on a quick downward spiral towards Armageddon. I was convinced at the time that UFO's (i.e., extraterrestrials) were inextricably tied to our history, present and future ( too much Von Daniken and N.Y.C. living I guess). I was also a devout atheist.

At the time, I was a bit of a hippie - I played guitar in a band ( I still play guitar, teach guitar at a music store in Buffalo, N.Y. and currently play in a progressive rock band). I did smoke reefer regularly and drank often; I had done acid once or twice with no out-of-this-world effects. I think it was the last night of June of 1978, at any rate it was a Sunday evening, when I got a call from Patty in the early evening. She told me that the lights in the sky were going to appear that night. I had already hypothesized that extraterrestials were real but had never actually seen a U.F.O. I was excited about the chance of seeing something, so I went over to her apartment in Sunnyside . How she knew in advance that they would appear did not really enter into my thoughts at the time.

Patty was divorced and admittedly a bit odd. She had 3 children, 2 daughters aged about 10 and 13 and a son named John who was about 14. They were all attractive, bright kids. According to Patty, they were all used to seeing strange phenomena, e.g., lights in the sky (during the day and night) and objects moving by themselves in her apartment. Also, she had a camera that would seem to capture auras of people (weird electrical looking colored lights around whomever she'd photograph). I saw many of these photographs and they were pretty bizzare. All of the family members also saw a dark, ghost-like entity periodically in the apartment.

I went over to Patty's apartment in the early evening. I hung out with her and her kids and basically talked and listened to music. I did not ingest any substances that evening. I was half hanging out of a window of her apartment looking out towards the sky (she lived in a 4rth floor apartment on 46th street) and, cliche-like, right at midnight (technically Monday morning), I saw a bright, star-like orb suddenly appear in the sky and hover. I excitedly told Patty that I saw something - she went to the window and confirmed my sighting. I was beside myself but she seemed very calm - like, oh yeah, here they are again.

Patty, her son John and I proceeded to the roof of her apartment building to get a better look. For about an hour, we saw these orbs appear in various parts of the sky; some would hover, some would move about, some would disappear suddenly and others would appear in their place in some other part of the sky. I can't remember how many appeared but it was probably not more than a half dozen. They moved slowly and silently. We saw airplanes flying by so I assumed that they were not conventional planes. After about a half an hour, John complained that he was cold and went back downstars to the apartment ( it was a chilly early summer evening). I couldn't believe that he did that, I mean, this was the most monumental thing I had ever witnessed and he was wussing out because it was chilly. But as I mentioned above, this family was used to seeing these things on a regular basis.

Patty and I watched these orbs for about an hour. At one point, one of these these things was hovering above the Manhatten skyline and another was moving away from it. Then, the one moving away from it started moving towards the one that was hovering, merged with it and sank below the Manhatten skyline. After about an hour, they all disappeared and none reappeared. I was in shock at that point. I told Patty something to the effect that I couldn't believe what had just happened and I guessed that I wasn't crazy, that there was alien life out there. As I said this, a bright white light seemed to engulf us for a second or two. I asked Patty if she had seen this and she said that she did, still calm as a cucumber.

I don't know if there were U.F.O reports in the papers the following day because, to be honest, I just didn't think of checking. I guess it would be interesting to check it out at this point if possible - maybe I will after I write this thing. Anyway, what may be of interest to some is, Patty never referred to these lights in the sky as U.F.O.'s - she referred to them as "the powers that be." Without writing a book here, I can tell you that this experience was accompanied by: a ouija board reading that really friggin' worked, an astral projection experience, and strange knockings on my bedroom wall at various, seemingly synchronistic intervals (i.e., poltergiest-type experiences). I had never experienced any of these things prior to my sighting (except for the ouija board experience which was only 1 month prior to my initial sighting). These phenomena continued into the Fall of 1978 and almost drove me mad. If it weren't for the fact that other people were witnessing these things I would have surely committed myself. Again, without writing a book, the immediate outcome of these events was, I was convinced after a summer and Fall of reading the bible (for the first time in my life) that demons were out to posess me and, after a horrifying, nightmarish and ultimately epiphany-like experience, became a born-again Christian (me, a nice Jewish boy)!!!!

Presently, I cannot say for sure what the hell happened to me all of those years ago. I am no longer an atheist, but I do not believe in a benevolent god. This no doubt has to do with my being a child welfare worker here in Erie County for the past 11 years, basically dealing with child abuse and neglect on a daily basis (as well as 9/11, the recent Tsunami, the Black Plague, Nazi Germany, etc.). Currently, I am one jaded mother- fucker. I can certainly see how a typical born-again type would interpret my experiences as being demonic, but honestly, I just don't know. I haven't experienced anything really weird in quite awhile, except for about a year ago when a lady friend and I saw some strange lights in the night sky here in Orchard Park (a suburb of Buffalo where I currently reside).

Why am I writing this stuff down now? I have never written it down before in a public forum. I guess I was inspired by a day of U.F.O. programming on the History Channel as well as a bit of rum. Truthfully, I am one depressed mo' fo' and don't know how much time I can continue to endure this insane asylum called Earth. I guess I'm writing now for the sake of truth, and possibly, to get some feedback from people who have gone through experiences similar to my own. I do not consider my experiences to be typical U.F.O. fare. Rather, my experiences were a mixture of strange sightings and poltergeist-like experiences. I know what the new age, born-again and psychological interepretations of my experiences are but nothing seems conclusive. One thing is for sure: if there are extraterrestials out there who are checking us out, they had better intercede on the planet's behalf soon before we do ourselves in by our own stupidity.

Absolutely not, unless any of the above mentioned objects can appear out of nowhere, disappear in an instant or merge with one another.

Before my sighting I had read "Chariots of the Gods?" by Von Daniken and 1 or 2 other books on the subject. When I was a teenager U.F.O.'s were the closest I could come to an idea of God. Upon becoming a born-again Christian shortly after my initital experiences, I thought that they were demons (in the biblical sense - as Paul said, "Our enemies are not flesh and blood, but the spiritual powers that reside in the heavens."). Now, I don't know what the heck to believe.

on my way to work at approximately 4:50 am I saw in the north sky what appeaqred to be a dimensional portal open and close. it was a vetical light that went north and south at the same time. as quickly as it opened it closed. I saw no craft enter or exit the portal.

I kept this for myself for about 30 years. Now I have too tell you.

It was in the summertime of 1975. I was travelling in my car, a MercBenz 230, to my familys countryhouse. "Torpet", a very old house in the middle of the forrest in the wilderness. After turning off the highway at the village " Hjortkvarn" in central Sweden, I was about 1 km (1000yards) outside on a countryroad when I saw something.

It was a very beautiful summereve and the time was 11 pm. The daylight was still lightning up the skies and not a single cloud. I was driving across open fields , with forrest to my right, about 100 yards away to the south.

Then suddenly I saw something very odd. 2 circular "lightbulbs" flying over the treetops, to my right. They seemed to fly at slow speed, away to my right about 45deg . No noise or anything.

I speeded up my car and tried to follow. But to no use. They where gone. My road did`nt go the same way as the flightpath of the objects.

I´m a pilot, former military and commercial. I`ve been working in Texas as a flightinstructor.

What I saw that evening was no airplane or baloon, military or civil. It was something else.

Large object..Perfect circle, pitch black, motionless and could not make it out to be a 3d object. it just looked like a flat circle in the sky up about 40 degrees off horizon and the size of a dime at arms length, came and went suddenly. Smaller object...Came from the dark circle, the size of a 0 of the 2000 date on that same dime , was shiney white or silver could not make out shape because of its distance and the shine from the sun reflecting from it, moved the the south east at high rate of speed with no contrail. would estamate a minimum of 1500mph

I am a private Pilot and aircraft lover of all types 30 yo with better than 20/20 vision. To relax i would sit in the back yard in the swinging bench and gaze to the east where we have a view of the faroff bear mountain which is just east of Arvin California. I usually have my digital camcorder with me when ever i am outside incase i see the local Hawk that likes to hang out on the telephone pole near the rail road tracks behind the house, or if i might see a cool Helo to get on tape to make a still for my computer screensaver.

I was sitting on the bench at about 4pm or so, the sun was behind me and the house so i had no glare but the sky was lit up and not a cloud in the sky.

I was looking out and suddenly noticed something stationary in the sky, it was a motionless Black circle. It looked like a hole in the sky, it did not look 3 dimensional it looked like a flat black circle. it was the size of a dime held out at arms length.

the sky was bright blue so the circle stood out, but I had been looking in that direction for a while and did not see how it appeared, it was suddenly just there,

I stared at it for about 20 or 30 seconds trying to think what is that. it looked like a hole in the sky.

then i saw an object come from the dark area and head south east, i could not make out shape because it seemed to be so hi. it was just a shiney dot. if the circle was a dime then this object would be the size of a 0 on the 2000 date stamped on the dime

It moved in a straight line till i could not see it anymore, It covered the area of sky an airliner does but in about a third of the time, if at the same altitude as an airliner it would be doing in excess of 1500 mph but it seemed to be much higher, so it was going very fast, I am also familure with the passing satalights and this was covering area faster, it left no contrail.

once it was gone i looked back at the dark circle and it was still sitting there motionless,

I watched it for about 5 more seconds then remembered I had my camera with me.

I reached for my camera, hit the on switch and brought the camera up to my eye all with out taking my eye off the dark circle in the sky.

when i brought the camera up to my eye I had to focus on looking through that and getting the object in frame, after about 3 seconds I could not see the object on the camera so i took my eye away to get my bearing on the object again but it was gone. looked around but could see nothing, it was there then it was gone. I wish I had not gone for the cam because then i could have seen how it went. Did it close up, take off at high speed or fade out?

Has anyone seen anything like this? I dont know if it was a solid craft or mabe some sort of portal. I dont think the military has anything that could move that fast but do know they have been working on optical stealth which could explain the sudden appearance and appearing to be gone in a flash.

I am pretty familure with natural objects and how they can trick the eyes but this was no natural object i have ever seen. and if man made it is nothing conventional. If man made the best explaination i could come up with is maybe the large craft/ circle was fitted with a working optical stelth system explaining why it would appear so quick and vanish, it was very large so mabe a lighter than air craft. and the smaller aircraft, a supersonic aircraft launched from the larger one, it seemed very small so maybe unmaned. millitary aircraft do move over bakersfield once in a while, back befor the f117 was made public they had one crash near here. now what did it look like to me, it looked like the sky opened up and let in a flying object then closed back up like a worm hole or something.

Being a pilot and majoring in sciences. i am very open minded to the possibility of UFOs not of this planet, but I dont buy in to every report, Even if i see something i cant explain i still want to see close up and touch and inspect before I say Im sure something is not of this earth, I know the millitary has some very cool things but there seems to be consistant ufo sitings dating back hundreds of years. Air Force cant be blamed for them all.

For a number of years I have been trying to get shots of lightning. Every time a cold front or a front comes thru I get my camera and go chasing the lightning. On this evening the front started comming in around 6:30 pm and it was following a record high temperature of 104 degrees As the front moved in there was a tremendous amount of lightning ans i was shooting in the continious mode, I only caught 1good shot,but what a shot it was The picture had twin lightning bolts comming out of the clouds and a round orange disk partially obstructed by the leading edge of the front. I thought that I had caught a shot of a bolt of lightning and the moon in the horizon.

I wasn't until 2 days later hat it dawned on me that it wasn't the moon. The moon did not come up for several hours later and that the moon was cresent shaped not a full moon.

After looking at the picture and zooming in on it, its kind of scares me to think what it might be.
