On April 17, 2005, I was sitting in my back yard on a Sunday night at approximately 9:30 p.m. I didn't see any bright images because I live in a large city. But my camera snapped this object in the night sky. I set my camera on top of the barbeque grill, on 10 second self-timer, ISO=100. No one touched the camera. But this is what it took. I have attached the oroginal picture. I sent the picture to my brother. He used Adobe Photoshop and sent me these images. One night whilst we were on a shark-fishing boat out on the Southern ocean, ( The Great Australian Bight) between Eucla and Eyre, the boat was facing north and from the east, and heading west, came this flashing red ball. We just thought that it was an aeroplane, but as it got in line with us ( north of our position) it exploded into this fiery inferno and burnt it's way to the ground!! Now the position from where we were would mean that the 'object' would have been up on the escarpment. We were going to 'radio' in the sighting, or crash, or whatever it was, but thought that all we would do was to wait for a call from the 'Sked radio' at Esperance to see if they request a visual of where the 'plane' went down, but that call never came. So we didn't really know what the 'object' was!!

May have been a 'drone' plane getting hit by a missile from Maralinga, but then again it could have been some type of 'UFO' battle in the night sky!!

I did not see the actual object making the very extreme white blueish light. The bright light was similar to the movies shown in ET and other extra terrestials movies. My experience happened well before these movies were made so I couldn't have just made up this bright lights.

I live in a urban area close to a very old Chinese castle.

If I can remember right, I believe it's around 2-3 o'clock in the morning maybe of around May - June 1974. I was awaken by a low level hoovering sound. The sound frequency was much slower than the helicopter and very low tone. The pulse that sound like "woooob.....woooob.....woooob" was like a beat a second but nothing like I've heard before. A helicopter have a much faster sound pulse and higher frequency sound compare to the sound that I'm hearing. It was a hot humid day in Manila so I have an electric fan at the foot of the bed. During the time, whatever is out there making the hoovering sound I noticed that the blade of the electric fan slowed down to the point that I can see the blade slowly turning. I got up out off the bed and I was about to stick my head out of the window to check what is making the noise but as soon I saw the very extreme bright light I put my head back in. I got so scared! That morning I asked neighbors and friends if they saw anything unsual that early morning and I got all negative responses .

I used to live very close to a very old Chinese castle, I don't even know how old it was but it's one of a kind in Manila, or for that respect throughout the Phlippines. This was probably the spot where the UFO was hoovering. I've never been interested in UFO but after this incident, I'm a believer and read just about anything about them.

Unfortunately, last June, I passed-by the old Chinese castle only find out that the top of the castle collapse last time Manila experienced an earthquake.

That bright white-blueish light that I saw would take more than the amount of light in an American Football to produced which we don't have in the vicinity at that time of sighting.

I was traveling home from a part-time job while I was back in college seeking another undergraduate degree and happened to see an object in the dusk sky (this was during the winter). I was dumbstruck by the object's extreme brightness. It seemed to be so bright that it had to be a large searchlight with incredible candlepower. Its size in the sky may be approximated as the head of a tack or small nail head held at arm's length.

I had taken an astronomy course in college as an elective, Junior-level, science course to make my degree a BS rather than a BA for my first udergraduate degree, so I was quite familiar with what was supposed to be in the sky, or I should say more definitively, I KNEW that there was nothing in the night sky with that magnitude of brightness. Only the sun during the day exceeded its magnitude (the moon's light never gets bright enough to make your eyes hurt unless you view it through a telescope. This object had the brightness of a welder's torch, albeit far away from me and relatively small.

I was driving up a hill towards home and just happen to catch the brightness in my eye (as it was directly in my field of view) directly in front of me or I might not have noticed it. At that time of day, the sky was still too bright to have stars or planets showing through.

I went home and continued to watch it as I drove. My father and mother lived next door and my wife was already home from work, too. I called to them (my parents by phone) and we all went up to the top of a hill at the end of our rural road. I had rushed inside and got my inexpensive telescope and we set it up and watched it for approximately 35-40 minutes.

MOST INTERESTINGLY, I had a CB radio in my car (this was before it was cool to own one and before the TV show about truckers that made them so popular). I broadcast from the top of the hill to other CBers that might be listening and had them look up where they were to see if they could see it from where they were. I thought that by doing so, I could "triangulate" on it to determine the depth of the object to my perception (that is, was it a celestial object or was it something closer--perhaps close to us).

You can imagine my surprise to find that many people could see it and that they were located all AROUND the object. That is, different people twenty to thirty miles away from each other stated that it was east, west, north and south of them. That meant that the object (which was southwest of me) was relatively close to us. We approximated by everyone's location and its location to them that it was above a small town located about fifteen miles from me and southwest of my location. Everyone that saw it stated that they had never seen such a bright light in the sky, especially during the day.

We watched it until I noticed while looking in the telescope that the object appeared to be changing colors from a bright white/blue light to more of a yellow color and then reddish to full red over approximately 15 seconds and was getting smaller. Within 45 seconds, no one on the radio could see it and my telescope had lost it, even though I was careful to keep it in the middle of the viewing screen and not touch the telescope.

It was either getting smaller and changing colors from my perspective, but others reported it moving to a different area of the sky from them (traveling in a southwest direction from me and most of them (some lost it behind trees and could not say which way it went).

I called the local airport and sked them before I went to the top of the hill if they knew of any aircraft hovering southwest of GReenville and they put me on hold and came back to say no.

The next day, the local newspaper stated that there were reports of an unidentified flying object where we saw that one. Several weeks later, the newspaper stated that the Air Force stated that what we saw was a weather balloon.

Now I must admit that I have never viewed a weather balloon in the sky to my knowledge, but for that "balloon" to hover in the sky for that long and move at the same rate as the earth's rotation and then to change color and disappear so quickly does not SEEM to describe a weather balloon. Plus: 1) there is no local Air Force Base anywhere near this area. The closest ones at the time were several hundred miles away and were fighter bases. 2) the local airport stated that there was nothing hovering in the sky southwest of Greenville that they knew of; 3) that the location to all of us viewing it would indicate that it was pretty close to the ground and we all agreed that it left the area in a hurry; AND 4) the newspaper was reporting other unidentified flying objects in the Greenville area during those few weeks.

I believe that as the Jodie Foster, star of the movie "Contact" says in the movie, "It seems like an awful waste of space if there are not other civilizations out there."

She also quotes some impressive statistics about the probability of intelligent life sopme place in the universe, but I won't try to specifically quote them. What she says though is that if only the smallest fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of one percent of all of the suns (stars) out there has a planet that supports intelligent life, there would be literally billions of civilizations out there, and that is just in our own galaxy!

Shape was kind of like a blob. Not your typical thought of UFO with a saucer shape or lots of blinking lights. It reminded me of a very bright meteor but had the blue and green colors.

It was about ten times the size of how the size of planet Venus appears in the sky.

I live in a rural area in eastern Wake county. There are not many bright lights in the area so it's a good spot for viewing the heavens. About 10 pm last night,(dec 20th 05) I stepped out to the back deck to let my dog relieve himself. In the NE part of the skyline I noticed a very large,bright light traveling at a slow pace toward the ground. It lasted only a few seconds.It was so low, I thought it must have been a meteor crashing to earth. It either burned out , disappeared or I simply lost sight of it behind the tree line, but the duration of my viewing it was about 3 seconds. I ruled out fireworks because it was the sole light in that area and had no evidence that it was launched. It just appeared out of nowhere and was traveling at an angle toward the ground. As far as size, I would have to describe it as probably ten times the size that Venus appears in the sky. It had a very bright, green and blue color to it. I immediately ran back into the house and told my wife that I had just seen a once in a lifetime meteor crashing toward earth.

UFO's and space have always been interesting to me. I have read about UFO's but can honestly say I have never seen one before this sighting. My first impression was that it was a meteor.

I stumbled onto this site by accident. After what I saw last night, I started to view local papers and news sites to see if it indeed was a meteor that lit up the sky. I saw no news reports so i typed in "meteor Garner NC" into google search and was shocked to see that someone from the same area I live submitted a sighting almost identical to mine only a few days ago! I do not know what it is but would love to know.

My name is Robby Walker. My mother and twin brother have an extensive history of on-going visits and encounters beginning in 1968 thru 2003. There's so much to share. I have great reluctance to share these incidents involving the three of us because it became so second nature to me. Until now, I have never really been able to disclose to officials our story...my story. I know that somehow I escaped their intention of erasing memories completely. I was in the Army in germany and myself and 120 men were on maneuvers at graphenweur { I think that is how you spell it} and my unit were fireing 105 and 155 howlitsers. It was about 4 o'clock in the morning and my relief came over to relieve me from my watch, we were on perimeter guard. It was pitch black in the woods and I was laying in my sleeping bag and all of a sudden this red object hovered right above the trees and it moved very slow from side to side and rose up and down at the same speed. This UFO,[ I call it that because I know what I saw that night] did not know we were in the area fireing our guns because it was so dark it could not have seen us there. As it was hovering right above us it was blinking very fast and very slow, then all of a sudden it noticed us on the ground and it stoped hovering. I jumped up and ran down this dirt road to go to another location where my friend was and I was hollering to him to look up and see this object, and as we came together we looked up and this object shot straight up into the air and disapeared in about three seconds. Nothing on this planet could have moved that fast.
