3 lights appearing in triangular fashion, lights seen in clear sky just after sun set...lights shifted positions and moved farther and farther away within minutes

Appearance / Description of Object(s)objects initially looked like stars with little tails.....over a couple of minutes observing we came to the conclusion that lights appeared to look like elongated discs Size of Object(s)relative size 2'' inbetween lights...unable to estimate actual size in accurate terms Description of Area / Surroundingsjust entering rocky mountain range from rolling hills.....ski resorts and casino near by...no military bases or any other structures of significance Full Description & Detailsdriving east on hwy 1 approx 10 km's west of kananaskis at 1726 on dec 04 2010, 3 lights appeared in triangular like configuration in horizon. lights were positioned slighty above horizon, sunset time was 1631 but sky was completely clear and set sun was still illuminating entire sky. lights initially appeared like bright comits with tiny light tails behind them. over the next 8-10 min. lights shifted changing shape of the triangular configuration and each individual light got smaller and smaller as configuration MOVED farther and farther away as we drove towards them. We stopped at the rest stop outside Kingman, AZ to let our 3 small sons out to run about. This obect slowly appeared above the reststop and just stopped and hovered about 20 minutes. All the cars seemed to pull into the stop to get a better look. After about hovering for 20 minutes it began taking off slowly from west to east. All of us about 40 were asking each other "what was that?" When we got to CA we reported the sighting to the Police.
