rural area, on dead end area lots of woods in river bottoms, near river, no towers, lights, nearest city was 20 miles away

alternate flashing red lights at tree top level immediately jumping to 1000 ft and back down instantly, approximately 100-200 meters away. when my dad looked at it through a gun scope it disappeared. never saw again. this is in an area known for strange lights and glowing orbs floating through the river bottom and the woods.
