I was in Burlington, Vermont in the summer of 2002 when this occured.

My cousin, my friend and I decided one night to take my mom's car, pick up my friend and his telescope and go find a good spot to look at the stars. We looked all over town and finally came up with the idea to go to Smuggler's Notch Ski Resort (Mountain). No one was around and we had a blast going there.

So we went as high in the mountain as we could go. I was driving a junky Kia Sophia (mom's car) and it barely made it up the moutain so we walked the rest of the way. Once we made it to the top, we simply set up the telescope on its tripod and looked at stars for about 20 minutes when suddenly, my cousin noticed behind us was a bright ball of light appearing to be a large planet or a stationary object (a light turned on). Looking through the telescope, we couldn't find any indication that the object was suspended by anything other than itself. It was defiinetly a hovering object.

I then took out the video camera and set that up on a tripod (stable shots) and recorded, immediately suspecting it was a UFO. When zoomed in at 400x, the image appeared to be an ever-changhing (color, size, even shape) object.

So the object hovered for at least 20 minutes, then we saw one smaller one appear to "come out of it" slowly, and move to the right of it. The smaller object hovered in the distance to the right of the main big object for about 5-8 minutes. Then it seemed to disappear as the light source diminished. Looking through the telescope (but not on camera), we noticed it was actually still there, just no light.

So I was thinking the whole time, "yea obviously these are UFOs, but what are they doing here? and do they know we're watching?" So then I came up with the crazy idea of shining a laser at the main bright object to see what kind of reaction there would be. And so I did (evident on video) and soon after, within 5 seconds of shining the light, the object did indeed react. Another small object "came out" of it and this time it was bright red rather than yellow blue and green (the colors of the other objects). The object changed its brightness several times almost like morse code, and also moved to and away from the main object at least 3 times.
