I think it was a Saturday, two weeks after St Valentines day in 2002. I was watching a DVD with my housemate. Around 12.00AM the DVD started skipping, fed up I went out the back for a cigarette. As I walked throught the back door and lit the cigarette I saw four bright orange lights pass right over the roof of the house. After a second look I gained the composure to yell out to my housemate who was sitting in the lounge room. He came running out and we both watched the lights travel from SSE to NNW for what seemed like around four to five minutes.

The lights were travelling in a diamond formation at a constant velocity and altitude. It was difficult to determine the exact size, distance and speed of the objets against the clear night sky but they each looked about the size of a street light and were possibly at an altitude of 100 or 200 metres.

From the backyard we had a clear view over the surrounding suburbs to the north and we watched the lights travel over the coast in perfect formation until we could no longer see them.

It was a clear, quiet summer night with virtually no wind and the objects made no sound at all.
