Full Description & Details

While standing outside smoking a cigarette on my deck, I observed a bright light in the north west moving slowly to the south east. It was large (about as bright as a street light) and grew larger (but not brighter) as it tracked across the sky. That is how I guaged that it was getting closer. I estimated the altitude at under 1000 feet since I knew there was low cloud cover and the light didn't enter the cloud. There was no sound at all and it was moving to slow to be a jet and too quick to be a small single engine plane.

My apartment was in a direct line of sight to the Trenton airstrip and I am very used to seeing planes coming and going. This was NOT an airplane.

The object was moving along the coast of the Northumberland Strait and before it reached the mouth of the East River it turned sharply, not a bank, a sharp turn toward Prince Edward Island and the light got out over the Northumberland straight it began to climb very quickly and very steeply. Once it entered the cloud it was gone.

I went inside and called the air traffic control they had nothing unusual on rader over New Glasgow or the strait, and said there were no small planes in the air.
