we live in a rural area which is not well lighted at night. as i walked out on the front porch to catch a breath of cool night air, i looked up, at the sky, to veiw the night sky. i locked my sight on the only object that didn't belong there. it was very close to 9:00pm, tonight,august 31,2004. at first, the object intrigued me because of it's cloud-like composition, but exciting me because it had a very symmetric shape. The sky was very clear tonight, no other clouds in the sky. i thought it was a cloud, but what is this blinking light on the denser end? the light was less intense as the brightest stars in the sky, but definitely at the denser tip's end and moving with it seeming to be attached. I viewed the object for almost exactly half an hour. i phoned 911 because i didn't know who else to call. They connected me with the West Virginia State Police. I spoke to an officer who was on duty at the now on going Barbour County Fair. The officer identified himself but i forget his name. As i was, all the time, trying to keep the object in sight with a large pair of binoculars. The officer was kind and understanding and said he would contact the Bridgeport Airport for any information after asking exactly where i was located and where the object was in reference to me--which was right above me by this time. He took my name and phone number and we hung up about twenty minutes into viewing. The object first had moved from approximately 10 oclock s.w. sky to above me without changing shape or density. It's color was white as a cloud but with very defined shape. The light on the end continued blinking intermittently, but after about twenty minutes that light seemed to have dissappeared and within the same pointed arm .smaller lights where blinking three to four at a time sometimes and much smaller than the first one on the end. At about a half hour into viewing the lighted end had turned from southeast to directly east and beginning to fade except for the fifth lighted end and it remained almost directly above the house. Now it gets weirder. As if you were holding a large magnifying glass at arms length i noticed the sky distorted about as big as your open hand. This phenomona moved directly east towards the remaining point of the first object. They seemed to have both connected and the first object was drawn-into the second object. The first objects disappearance looked like water spiraling into a drain only upwards, then it all disappeared. I walked into the house and saw that the clock said nine thirty. My girlfriend and her son also saw the same as I.
