Full Description & Details

We were on our way home from Phoenix to Yuma. We observed an amber light around milemarker 30 at around 10:30pm. We kept looking at the light, trying to figure out what it was, and it continued to always seem to be in the same place relative to us as we traveled west. The light was bright enough to illuminate the clouds which seemed strange to us. This light was visible to us for approximately 20 minutes. We observed planes flying toward this light and then the light disappeared.

As we entered Gila Bend at around 11:00pm, we observed two amber lights the same size and the same place relative to us. We pulled into the first business place to observe. We watched for 10 minutes. We noticed blinking red lights from two airplanes approaching the lights, and then they disappeared.

As we traveled on I-8 outside of Gila Bend, we once again saw the two lights again between Sentinel and Dateland on the southern horizon. Once again, when we observed planes, the lights disappeared. This was around 11:30pm. We didn't see them again.
