my estimate is it was about the size of a large bus.

we were about a mile or mile and a half from it. it was approx 150 feet above the water.

Description of Area / Surroundings

rural area about 9 miles west from jamestown ny. it is a small lake with wooded areas and also homes. no special features in the area, just a tourist area.

Full Description & Details

we were sitting in the lower end of chautauqua lake somewhere around 4:00 am in a boat.i was awake while the others were kinda dosing off. i was watching the 4 lane which runs on the east side of the lake. you can see the clearance lights from the trucks ,above the trees, because the expressway is higher than the lake.i was shocked to see a set of the amber lights turn toward the west and crossed the lake in the exact same place where the bridge across the lake at bemus point/stow is today. there was complete silence as it crossed and the craft dissapeared above the wooded area of the west side of the lake. we were about a mile from where it crossed. i had asked the others in the boat if they had seen the lights and two of them said they did see it.

whatever it was had 4 or 5 amber lights on the side in a straight line. there was no pulsating or movement of the lights separately. they looked as though they were one unit.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

i am now disabled. i worked many years as a spot welder and then as a school bus driver. aat thye time of this incident, i was 20. i completed high school.
