on my way to work at approximately 4:50 am I saw in the north sky what appeaqred to be a dimensional portal open and close. it was a vetical light that went north and south at the same time. as quickly as it opened it closed. I saw no craft enter or exit the portal.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

no did not look like lightning,afterburner, satelite or any other explainable occurance.
