round glowing, green seemed to catch fire....very bright like a glow stick

It looked like it was fairly close, but I think it was actually far away

very rural mountains, we were traveling near a resevoir, but the object was north west of that.

Full Description & Details

As my husband and I were driving down the highway at aproximately 9:00 at night, I looked in the sky and saw a green sphere traveling towards the earth at a high speed. It glowed like a green glow stick...as it traveled I saw flames coming off of it and then it disappeared behind a mountain. It all happened in a matter of seconds I tried to show my husband, but by the time he looked it was gone. It was also quite large in size. The next day I was telling my son-in-law about it and my daughter came running over and said "was it green?"....we discussed it and she had seen the same thing. She was 120 miles away at the time.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

I feel like it was natural,because it was shooting toward the earth, but I can't find anyone with an explanation as to what it could have been

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I've been rather ambivelant about UFO's in the sense that they are "aliens" etc... but as far as unexplained phenomena, I know that happens.
