Description of Area / SurroundingsThis portion of Highway 1 in Cary is just south of heavily lit and trafficed areas. Lighting was poor. Full Description & DetailsI was traveling southbound on Highway 1 in Cary, North Carolina when, in the distance, I see what looked like lights on a radio tower. The only thing is, I knew that I had never seen these lights before, nor a radio tower in this vicinity before, as I had traveled this route many many times. There were two sets of non-moving lights: each set had one red light and one blue light. The blue lights were solid and the red lights flashed. They were flying fairly low (approximately 400 - 500 feet). As I approached the lights, I determined that they were directly over the highway. As I approached even closer, one set of lights quickly vanished. Almost immediately upon driving under the lights, the other set of lights completely dissappeared. At no point were any objects clearly visible other than the lights. I opened my window and listened for a motor or prop. I could not see or hear a rotating prop. (It was not a helicopter). Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object? It's hard to say. Views on UFOs, before and after sightingI believe most UFOs reported are false and those that are legitimate UFO sightings are military invoked.
