Description of Area / Surroundings

Backyard in a residentail neighborhood in a small college town in southern Ontario. We faced the town's tiny "downtown" area across a small river. Late summer, just before students returned for the fall term. Unusually wet summer. Went out at that late with a neighbor to see how high the river had risen over the backyard we shared as tenants in a student building.

Full Description & Details

all the while. So for about two minutes. Then suddenly they formed a straight line and simply hung there, stock still, lights now on but no longer blinking. Then, as quick as a flash, they dated away, all together, to the west and through a cloud bank that obsctructed our view of them. Then, as we were about to depart, one of the objects flew back toward us and stopped in mid air over the town about a quarter of a mile from where we stood. Its lights blinked on and off and it began to fly about in tight circles. Then it zoomed back off to the west.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

Neutral before, neutral during the sighting, neutral now. I don't know what I saw.

Other Comments

My sensation as I gazed at the objects was one of intense interest, but not awe. I was not afraid. I was a little sorry when it was over and stood gazing for some time. I hoped perhaps that something more dramatic would transpire.
