A high speed rotating group of bright lights.

As I was possibly 2 to 3 miles away from the lights, it was hard to estimate.

2 to 3 miles, approx 3 to 4 thousand feet up.

Description of Area / Surroundings

Within 3 miles(?) of RAF Wittering, nr Stamford, Lincolnshire.

Full Description & Details

The lights seemed to be moving in and out of the low cloud cover. I stopped my car to concentrate on the 'odd image', which was moving in a northerly direction. The sighting only lasted about 10 or 12 seconds, after which the lights dissappeared up through the clouds.

The first thing I did on arriving indoors at work (the Harrier Maintainence School Library), was to report it to a supervisor. Afterwards and up until the end of my employment there, there was nothing mentioned about my 'sighting'.

(My position there was a civilian, as part-time Librarian in the Training Library.)

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

No, because of the high speed it was travelling.
