Round. Gave the impression of being spherical. colour and brightness of the sun.

relative size - pinprick. Actual size - larger than a house.

Description of Area / Surroundings

Rural. Cloudy day with snow flurries and brief periods were sun would shine through clouds. The area is well known for 'ley lines' . US base at menwith hill about 10 miles North.

time approx 12.30pm. I was walking from the Thimble Stones to the TV masts on ilkley moor (the route is considered by some to follow a 'ley line'). To my left (south) I noticed a bright light across the valley. At first, I thought it might be the sun reflecting off a building etc. - it seemed to be slightly below the hill line but it slowly rose higher into the sky until it was clearly not a 'landmark'. I observed it for perhaps 1 minute before it disappeared.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

looked like reflected sunlight from a man-made structure until it moved.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

Have read alot about UFO's. Whilst I imagine that alot of sightings have mundane explanations, I also think it is entirely plausible that extraterrestrials exist and visit us and that also our government have technology they keep secret.

Other Comments

The impression I got was not of a 'nuts & bolts' craft but of some sort of 'energy'. It felt like a very 'personal' sighting - like something was being revealed to me.
