It was triangular in shape, with lights along the outside of the "wings" and the underneath had lights as it passed over.

It was the size of a jet plane that had been truncated at behind the wings.

It passed directly overhead at a few hundred feet.

Rural, countryside, open fields and wooded areas. There is some sort of military communications facility in the general area.

It was just after dark, maybe 7 pm. I was looking out my kitchen window that faces west toward Culpeper VA, when I saw lights hovering over the treetops about 2 or 3 miles in the distance. I told my husband, who also saw them, and then we both went outside. We watched the lights that continued to hover for several minutes. Then they started moving toward us. They came slowly, maybe 20 mph, and eventually the craft passed directly over our heads. It moved almost silently, just a faint humming noise when it passed over. It was triangular in shape, with lights along the outside of the "wings" and the underneath had lights as it passed over. My husband is retired from the air force, and he had never seen anything like this!

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

It was not a natural object. It could be man-made, perhaps a new military craft that no one knows about.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I know they exist. I'm not an expert on them, or obsessed by them or anything. But there are too many sightings for at least some of the sightings to not be real.
