At least 3 miles, and it was just below the clouds in the sky

I woke up, and I went to the balcony to get some air, I was on the 13 floor of the hotel, it was dark blue/black sky, and raining heavily, and as stood there, I looked up by the hills across the other side of the lake, and I saw a circular object come out of the clouds, it had a glowing white hue around it, and it just hovered there for no more then 5 seconds, and it shot off into the clouds, I was quite confused and still am

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

I couldn't see anything that I know of doing that

I'm always been skeptical to UFO photos and abductions, but something that night changed me, and I had read quite a few books on UFOs before
