Appearance / Description of Object(s)

I'm assuming that it was a single dot of light that appeard to have a tail because of its speed. It moved back and fourthin a looping fashion.

Size of Object(s)

At arms length it was about the size of an eraser on a pencil. I have no idea of the actual size or distance.

Distance to Object(s) & Altitude

Couldn't tell.

Description of Area / Surroundings

Rural area ,houses, trees. I saw the object over the road where it was clear of trees. it was an easterly direction and less than a 1/4 mile was Narragansett Bay.

It was a hot summer night and I was talking to my brother who was in his truck and about to leave and a light caught my eye in the direction I was facing. I looked up and saw a white light that moved back and fourth erraticly for a few seconds. It looked as if it were a single point of light that moved so quickly that it had a tail (like any light you move back and fouth). At first I thought it was headlights from a car on the telephone line that lead to my house but it was well above them. The sky was clear and there were no reports of lightening that night. I can't say it was a "flying saucer" but it was unusual. I never saw anything like that before. I thought maybe it was "ball lightening" or some other form of atmospheric disturbance. There is a airport (T.F. Greene) only about 4 miles away but this light could not be mistaken as an airplane. I suspected maybe a laser pointer but I've never seen or heard of a "white" lighted laser pointer and besides a laser pointer needs a back ground to be seen...there were no trees or clouds where I saw this light...just sky. There were no sounds or any indication that it was there, only visual. I don't know what I saw but I'm a rational person with a "no-frills" approach to logical explainations. I can't explain this one.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

Maybe an atmosphereic anomali.

I've always had an interest in the paranormal but because of my belief that there is always a logical explaination...I'm a "seeing is believing" type of guy. I do believe that there is other life out there...It's ignorant to thing that we are the only life that CAN exist. Maybe not intelligent life but life.
