Description of Area / Surroundings

It was a rural area near a pond and the ocean. There is a military base, not too far from there . Its near an old railroad track and foundry. There may be a power plant nearby

As a plane flew over my house;very low at 11:45 am, what I thought to be a reflectiono on the tail of the plane was an object,that separated from the plane and flew about ten feet off the ground in front of my window in astraight line slowly,for about 20ft then ascended up and over the trees as it picked up speed. It was blinking; as if to a beat,and it was red. I called to my friend in the other room to come and look at thid; because if I left the window I may have missed this. He believed in UFOS; I did not ; so much.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

I don't know if an explanation, that it may have been a satellite
