It was dark and the object appeared as a faint glow.

Size of Object(s)

It was hard to determine how high the object was so I cannot give an estimated size. However, if my hand was stretched out the light would have been about the same size as my fingernail.

Distance to Object(s) & Altitude

I cannot determine how far away the object was. It moved to fast to make an accurate estimate.

Description of Area / Surroundings

I was in a park and the surrounding area was somewhat clear of lights. Although, there were some park lights. A few blocks away is downtown Iowa City and there are street and city lights.

Full Description & Details

My friend and I saw a light in the sky above Iowa City that flew at a very fast speed. We were in the park and I happened to look up. I immediately said to my friend to look up at the satellite, except it flew in a very large arch. I am familiar with what satellites look like and this was no satellite. It was going ten times the speed of a satellite. After it made a large U-turn, it disappeared over the horizon and within seconds flew directly back over us in a straight line in the opposite direction. It was amazing how fast it was going.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

I am a skeptic and a scientist. I do not believe that this object could have been made by man. It was traveling way too fast.

I am skeptical of the majority of UFO sightings. Although, this has changed my perspective a bit.
