Very far away, apart from the strong green light I couldn't make out it's shape.

It was very far but it looked big. At least 5 or 10 meters.

Object was 1km away, 100 or 200 meters high before disappearing.

City with few buildings and lots of trees.

Me and my girlfriend were talking outside at night when we saw this strange green light going up into the sky (or into space?) very rapidly. If it had been going down we would have assumed it was just a meteor, but going up? Also the speed was out of this world. At least nothing I have ever seen.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?
